Ha, maybe! Very cool tank, what is the size of the display? Anyone catch it? It doesn’t look too big. I didn’t like that dump tank he had, didn’t create a great wave but added a lot of bubbles to the tank. Cool design though.
Average span from finger to finger 6’ so I would say 12’ by 3’or 4’
12’ tank beats anything I’ve got.
Im convinced that a nontradtional approach is the way to go with large in-wall tanks. you dont have to worry about the logistics of moving a heavy, bulky tank and you can save a TON of dough that is better spent on quality equipment and livestock. when i do an inwall display tank again im going plywood tank all the way. you can customize the shape and size to your needs and build one at a fraction of the cost. Here are just some rough numbers.
8’ X 2’ piece of starfire glass 16 X $32 = $512
3 pieces of 3/4 hardwood plywood 3 X $50 = $150
misc. supplies(2X4’s, screws, silicone, epoxy, fibeglass) about $150
479 gallon tank with a starfire display = $800
If anyone decides to go this route before me, let me know, i work for beer, redbull, and pizza. I would LOVE to build one of these things so i can work all of the bugs out on your tank before i build my own! lOl
Concrete is fairly expensive… I would think that wood and fiberglass would be about as much $$ if not less, but weigh a LOT less. Although I guess you work with with you got.

Shawn, why wait? If we had everyone come over for a day and worked on it we could probably get one of these more or less built in a day minus the extra coats of fiberglass. You dont think we want to be the Guniea Pigs do ya?
im waiting on a basement! :-("
Aww come on… you dont really need that laundry room. Heck, its almost totally a fishroom now anyways, what would one wall more or less matter.
Basement pool/ tank- start digging
Thats other future project…cinderblock lagoon!
How am i ever going to find a girl stupid enough to marry me?
