The 750’s are ok, but there is a reason why no one makes a bike in this class. Displacement just doesnt mean as much as it use to. Today less than a second seperates the 600’s from the liter class. The engineering is so streamlined it seems that the extra weight needed to add the extra hp just about negates the gains.
A great bike that you dont see much and is way underrated is the daytona triple. My buddy bought one the year it came out and i watched him eat up 600’s all day long. I was always a big suzuki guy, ive owned 4 gixxers and 3 busas but i think kawasaki has passed suzuki. The ZX10RR is the nastiest liter bike out there hands down. A bunch of my buddies have em and and most of em can eat my busa on a rolling start.
I really don’t want to get into a deep bike conversation on a reef forum. But what the heck.
There is no replacement for displacement! 1000s and busas are FAT. 750s will eat up 600s on the straight and in the twistys and give the 1000s a good run for their money in the straight and probably win out in the twistys. You can’t drive (on the track) good enough to use the power out of 1000 vs a 750. Neither can I. A 750 weighs 5 more lbs than a 600 but has a good 20 hp more. 1000s weigh a good 20 lbs more and about 20 hp more than a 750. Read up the 750 has been rated to get the better gas mileage of all three! If you ride your bike everyday you don’t drive around at 10k rpms. So I got a 750 that gives more power lower in the rpm range. I didn’t want a 1000 yet and may not like it if/when I get it as much as the 750.
No one makes a 750 because there is no more 750 race class!
I’d love to ride a CBR 600/1000. Honda makes nice bikes with the power band lower, more in the area you will use it 95% of the time. They don’t win out on the HP contest, but they win out on rideability and usefullness of the power.
I ride everyday, my 750 is my daily driver (except on 40 below days…brrrr)
a 750 definitely doesnt eat up a 600, maybe when your dreaming about racing. >LOL<
1/4 times between a 600 and 750 are less than a 1/3 of a second and you definitely sacrifice handling for that 1/3 of a second. i was never into road courses but a bunch of my buddies are and none of them run a 750 for that very reason. as far as the power on the track, you certainly do use it or laptimes would be the same in all classes. the 750 class doesnt exist because it brought nothing to the game. if there was a demand for the size you better believe other manufactures would have one. but then for me, its always been go 1300 or go home >LOL<
i was always a drag guy. ive logged a lot of runs at cecil county over the years. im biased, but i will always believe that their isnt a faster stock redlight to redlight bike than the busa, it just winds down in the highend. the zxr14 can suck it.
I get your reasons for the fuel mileage, but if your ride the bike everyday why didnt you keep the katana? better fuel mileage and a more comfortable day to day bike. i liked my old katana.
as far as hondas go, i was never a big fan, although i know a lot of people really like their racing vtwin.
at the end of the day, it comes down to preferences and rider skill. i would hit the windy roads up on RT82 with my one buddy, and im convinced he could take my busa on a 250ninja. the guy is awesome.
Whoa…we definitely hijacked this thread. Are you bringing your bike to the meeting? We can talk bikes a little more there if your interested. Its all opinions, the numbers rarely mean anything anymore because there are so many factors(driver skill, drive weight, mods). I cant tell you how many times ive had the busa vs busakiller aka zxr14 argument or how many times ive gotten beat by “stock” 600’s that wont take off their seat >LOL<
5+ lbs for 20+ hp. 5 lbs isn’t going to change much at all in handling, if it does you need to adjust your settings.
Nope didn’t take the bike today, I promised Liverocks08 I’d return his bucket to him and you never know what you’ll take home. Plus I might stop by DPA on the way to the meeting and I’d look pretty funny with a 4’ light bulb sticking out of my backpack doing 120mph. So I brought the Trans Am, we can talk cars if you want lol.
The thing to keep in mind about HP is the manufacture numbers are always hp at the crank, and im pretty sure it doesnt translate linearly to hp at the wheel.
So I brought the Trans Am, we can talk cars if you want lol.
I dont know much about bikes, i know even less about cars! >LOL<
I don’t care about the hijack, for now I am just waiting on the beach. See what goes on with that and finances, before I make any hasty decisions. Bike definitely isn’t in my near future at the moment, but is still a good teasing thought.
As for this discussion, I am a not a drag car (only race cars) or really a track guy (low sided too many times, street roads suck, and putting your knee to the ground on backroads = BAD!). So I stick to stunts, which basically leaves me outta this convo! I have ridden pretty much every bike that you guys have listed except for the daytona, which I have heard a lot of good things about them.
A buddy of mine has a new 750g and he raced my other buddy on his 05 636 and they were neck and neck. I really don’t think you can compare most bikes because they are very close in speed, it all comes down to riding. I used to beat some bikes in some of my old cars, (fastest one was a high 11 second vette) which shouldn’t happen but some riders out there just plain suck! I do agree that the faster heavier bike may do slightly better in the straightaways but get eaten up in the corners. I own 1000s in the twisties, but on the highway I struggle to keep up sometimes (usually at insanely not safe high speeds, we’ve all been there tho).
Ian, when I gets warmer, maybe not until the spring, I can pull my sis’s F4i out, I know quite a few guys that will go riding. I really can’t stunt this bike since it’s lowered and not mine, so no worries on any crazy riding. Plus I am scared to lowside again, haha, no medical benefits next year for me.
