mr coral corals

quarantine tank 10g

this is the clam from the golden ticket

this is the bonsai that is missing some flesh at the base not sure if it was always like this or it has happened since i’ve had it? but i have been monitoring it and it doesn’t seem to get worse. has been about two weeks since i noticed it and really hasn’t changed. the pods seem to be on it at night which i think is a bad sign.
any help on this one will be greatly appreciated ^^^

heh, you have to show me how you take your pictures, mine come out all washed out in blue…

looks like a purple bonsai.

It does. I would love to get another eventually one of my favorite sps corals.

BONSAI!!! Danielson!! lol it is i moved it, it was getting around 300+ par now im thinking like 200 it grows slower than most others. It is one of my fav’s but i think i have another frag small but healthy.

my pictures sucked too i borrowed an slr camera and put a white bucket lid in the tank with the lights on took a picture and custom set the white balance to the bucket lid and now it is saved in the manual mode. That is all i know of how i got it to look better.

nice shots Tim ::thumbsup::

I must have jinxed your bonsai verdict_in

yeah thanks. lol i hope it makes it i’ll frag it if it gets any worse

Yes, I think they like a little lower PAR but more 420nm actinic. I got a nice frag of one at the NCPARS frag swap last month and put it in the center of my HQI/T5act frag tank, and it has tanned out. green polyps but tan body now. I think its too bright for it. needs more blue.

GARF used to grow their really purple Bonsai under mostly VHO 420 actinics. I think it likes a softer, bluer light. maybe move it to under more of the 420s.

Hey, Otherwise, your other corals in the pics look great!! Wonderful colors and growth appearing.

I can do that, the left part of the tank has less led I did move it already that way but it’s only 4" left of center and still has some led on it but not much. I have come to the conclusion that darker corals require less light.

well, only one way to find out. lets just move them. I could move my frag to the old frag tank that is all VHO. 3 act-420’s and 1 50/50. and see what happens. really old bulbs though. i needs to replace them.

Mine did best around middle height in my tank. Not sure of the par though. Wish I would have tried Coral RX when it started having RTN

It seems a lot of people are having issues keeping them. Im going to have to do some research on it and hopefully find some tips.

My little frags of my “hurting bonsai” have stopped dying, and the dead parts are now growing algae. the few spots that still have flesh have a couple little polyps with great extension. I know i’ve increased the flow a bit (cleaned 6 month grunged powerheads) but nothin drastic. The parameters have stayed the same, except i cant say that about ph, without a new probe i don’t know what its been doin. I mention ph because i’ve been dripping kalk daily for a month now and i’m sure its had to raise my ph some, even with a nightime slow drip…
My valida has also started coloring back up as well.
I wish i had more info also Tim, to avoid this in the future…
If i had a fully awesome purple bonsai colony go downhill like my big frad did i’d be cryinnnnn :-("

Yeah tell me about it I do like them. You have that one that’s doing really well hope it shoots up.
