OK so I’ve been accused of “humping my fish tank” the last two weeks. So I figured now was as good a time as any to post some updated pictures.
Bonus - as I was organizing my pictures I happened across a folder date December 14 2008 - so I can see where I started this tank and where I am today.
First December 2008
Today (12/22/10)
Unfortunately my pictures suck and They really aren’t doing the tank justice - but here is a couple of mushroom colonies with various other corals
One of the caves that the fish and the coral banded shrimp like to play in.
My Hippo posing
Some zoos, cabbage leather, the top of my crocea clam, and green cloves,
My PBT posing
More of the clam and my tomato clown popping in to say “HI”
She likes to pose too
An almost FTS
A better FTS
Some of my newest frags - I decided to try my hand at SPS.
Orange Digi
Chalice
Random SPS - anyone know what it is?
Pink Mili
Purple Digi
Pocilipora
Now to cross my fingers and hope the SPS will grow as nicely as my LPS have been.
tank is looking very good. A suggestion, if you don’t mind. would be to get those SPS frags off the bottom of the tank, maybe place them at half height and see how they do. Unless, you are letting them acclimate to your lighting.
I’m still trying to figure out where everything needs to be mounted. I was going to immediately place them up higher but then I noticed they’ve all got full polyp extension so I was thinking maybe I didn’t need to rush.
I think that if you were to place them higher up, you will notice that they will color up better. these corals need some place to base up. They will start to grow around the plug and spread out, so it has a better foundation for later on when they start to branch out. you could always attach the frags to a larger rock and place the rock somewhere. Just remember to give them enough space to grow. Good luck.
Craig looking good. the sps you got from me was a acro and the pink one was a milli. The more light you give them the better they will grow and color up. If this gives you an idea i had them not even 12 inch under water with a nova 8 x 54 watt t5 running 4 10k and 4 ati blue + witch is nuts for lighting on that tank. so just give them tuns of light and high to med flow and you will be good to go.
