Very nice Paul. Get a better top down shot of the clams once they have settled in. They are beauties.

don’t supplement, unless you count adding baking soda to rodi for evaporation. i feed some corals NOW, thanks to jon’s advice, 2-3 times a week. feed the yellow tang a tiny bit many times a day. change 10% h2o every 2 weeks. ca stays about 4-425, so far.
ian, what can i say. i just am fascinated by them clams and wanna go for lots more. at least 2 dozen total in 2010. have 11 now.
squammie soon, but maxis and croceas get to me. plus they have been good to me. only lost 1 that was not my stupidity and 1 that was inexperience.
what do you keep your other levels at? or do you focus on the calc. because of the clams? halides or t-5?
do hermit crabs or shrimp harrass your clams?
Sweet catch Paul. I want to get a wellso one of these days. Clams to once I get some room in a display.

i have a consistent 0 in ammonia, trates, trites, sg goes between 1.0255 and 1.0265. phosphates are kept at 0 with phosguard, otherwise, trouble, mag tested a few times was 1325, so i don’t test tht anymore. i am always putting in baking soda to keep the alk at 9 [just switched from redsea pro to neomarine, so that evaluation may be a bit in coming, but i’m happy so far after only 2 weeks of dealing with it]
t5ho 6 geissman bulbs in the 75 and regular slimpaq bulbs in the 65.
jon, thanks for the compliment. the corals i got from u are looking great. i’m feeding all my carniv corals pellets like you showed me, and the duncans look better already. even the purple deaths can take the pellets, as they’re tiny sized, much smaller than the ones you use.
My duncans actually used to used to take smaller size pellets in the past, but now readily accept the large ones as you saw. I’ll be interested to see what happens to the size that my duncans expand to when I get new bulbs. Part of the reason for there sze could be lack of light. We shall see soon.
Miguel T from fragglereef.com used to recommend Hikiari S pellets for zoas and Palys. Not sure if here was a specific reason for it or if it was just what he had used. I got some free samples at MACNA I’ve been meaning to use up. Perhaps that could be a future experiment.

one of these months bill, i’ll be able to. look out, i’m gaining on u.
you need to stop buying, so i cna catch up, and we can start from even.
SURE, that’s not likely to happen. lOl
well, the small clam died. no visible reason. the other clam and critters are fine. DAMn.
i wanna now see how vivid handles the death. policy says they’ll refund the money to my card. i had to freeze it after taking a picture.
Paul sorry to hear the little one died.
I'm not buying any right now. I have found my show size one I want. Hard to tell from the pic but he tells me it's around 12 inches and yeah it is a tear drop ;D
Hope vivid takes care of you.
congrats on the monster, bill. size does matter. 12 inches though is way too big for my tank. we wanna picture for sure
vivid’s site sez, no probs. poor clam id in the freezer.
Sounds like they are standing behind it. Good for you.
I'll get pics of the clam when I get it. Hopefully I'll have a camera that works by then. :-?
