Diamond Goby driving me crazy

I love my diamond goby she even has a name (Dorothy), but she is driving me crazy, I was use to her burying my Zoas and knocking over my torch and taking hermits and snails for her burrows but now she has turned into an out and out theif, today she took a birdsnest frag for one of her burrows and just a few minutes ago I was looking at the tank and noticed my pink Goniopora is missing and low and behold with a little searching found it at the back of her other burrow, the birdsnet was on a full size frag plug on a rock about 8 inches away and the Goniopora was on full size frag disc on the sand about 20 inches away.

time to serve an eviction notice

wow gotta make em hard to get, super glue and epoxy

Humm… I wouldn’t say eviction just yet if you’ve named the fish and like it, but consider this. Is the fish only moving small rocks, plugs, and such that it is able to move in order to help it build a home? Perhaps if you added similar sized rubble rock and then as dunk recommended glue or epoxy the corals down… Then you give the fish an alternative building material and make it’s former choice harder for it to use.

Food for though.

I had a sleeper goby that used to do the same thing. It also covered ALL of my corals in sand when it took big gulps, swam to the top of the tank, and let it sift through it’s gills. It looked like it snowed in my tank every night before I cleaned it up. I had enough after awhile, and made a donation to the LFS. Too bad, really, the fish had a great personality and was very pretty . . . but when your corals aren’t comming out it starts to become a problem.

Lol, love the “toy” suggestion to take the focus off your frags
