Did I get this right?

Ok,
I’ve had a few of these for months, been reading and looking, I think what I have are these Asterina starfish.
Can somebody confirm them?
And of course the million $ question are the harmful to a reef tank?
I seem to have near a doz of them now, and they seem to be thriving.
As of today, I have seen them everywhere except on corals and haven’t noticed any damage.

Yes that’s what that is and as far as are they reef safe I not so sure I have ALOT of them and everything seems to do ok with them but they do eat coralline algae

I have them too and mine are sometimes at the base of corals but no damage. I like them. I like them even more if they eat coraline

They are safe in my opinion. They are just an extra little critter to add to the diversity. When you show your tank to most people, they will they think they are cool. They do eat some coralline, but more often than not if you are having trouble growing coralline the water chemistry is the issue and not these sea stars.

If I go to do a water change and there are 20+ on the glass I will siphon them out. This is because if there are 20 on the glass there are probably 40 on the rocks and it can be a bit distracting. I also bring a lot of dry rock to life in my tanks(for my business) and a massive number of these sea stars may slow the growth of coralline a bit.
