Disaster strikes again!!

Good morning crew,
So I’ve found not only is this forum great for advice but it is slsod a great place to vent about out terrible tank troubles. >::: when it all hits the fan ::hitsthefan::
The past few weeks I have been extremely happy with the over all look with my tank, with the help of many club members I’ve found the best lighting for my mixed reef to keep everything happy from my red planet, to my frog spawn. The water current perfect along with the levels of my tank until this morning.
I awoke to 80% of my rock and corals on top of each other!!! ??? I still have no idea what had caused this, possible my sand sifting star, a 18 wheeler! Who knows. But as of this morning here’s the list of lost
Two multi colored acros, acan colony of about 20 or so heads, green poci, a brain, superman Moni cap. Also my colony of Ora green tipped birds nest is banged up, my blue berry tort is bleaching out, and my frog spawn has a head in dire need. :-?
Thanks for listening lol

Sorry to hear. :frowning: So it was a rock slide? I wouldn’t count any of the corals as down and out. Keep them in the water and you’ll be surprised at what comes back if the tank is kept healthy.

Best of luck. Sorry to hear.

That really sucks. Do you have any fish that like to burrow? I had a convict blenny at one point and I had to evict him as he caused a rock slide. It was not major since I caught what was going on fast enough but I almost had a 20-30lb cliff rock almost go and that would probably have meant the tank glass being broke.
It happens in this hobby. I just got new lights and then my skimmer pump crapped and had to do some quick thinking to rig 1 pump for the bio pellets and phosgaurd reactors and another pump to the skimmer and of course it is fun going through tons of fittings to make everything work. some stuff is 3/4,5/8,1/2"… fun times…

Good luck with the recovery. Like Gordonious said don’t count everything as dead just yet. Some sps just needs a few polyps to make a comeback.

Take away for those reading through. Rock gets put on the glass and then sand goes around it. Rock does NOT go on top of sand.(unless it is super light and no other rocks go on top of it)

Borrowing animals can bring a very interesting touch to a reef aquarium and there are some truly odd/unique/interesting animals. Just need to think ahead a bit.

Thanks guys,
Honestly this morning I was ready to trash everything and do fish only but after talking to some friends they are gonna help me re plenish the tank. So also thanks to them :BEER
So needless to say I spend most of the day re building my rock scape and putting the remaining corals back up. And I must say I might even like this look better so I’m happy ::thumbsup:: will post pic’s once some stuff is healthy again and added in the new corals.
On a side note once I got home tonight I had noticed my puffer had jumped out of my 40gal fowlr tank and dryed up before I was able to put him back in… Just not my day :SURRENDER

oh crap that sucks sorry to hear about the fish. Yeah tomorrows another day I’m cooking a bunch of corals and once they base and color I’ll have a lot available. Well you know how many i’ll have lol

Oh yes dunk and I’ll be 1st in line!!! YahoO
