Dr Mac's
Anyhow, i wont be going. Although i disagree with your earlier post and feel that Dr. Mac’s is a very reputable LFS, personally i dont hold them in high regard for different reasons. With that said, for me, its just not worth the drive.

any chance to expand on that? since this would be my first time there, is this negativity any cause for a customer’s concern? are there any reasons I should be aware of before going, besides some high prices?
just wondering.
It depends on the corals you are looking for. Dr Macs is an awesome experience and the frag deals are great. He has the cleanest and nicest setup around. Even if you are not buying its a good trip to check out his setup. I have also been there many times but still enjoy checking it out. This being said if I had a choice of driving or having the corals shipped I would ship as it ends up being cheaper. Now with a group it makes the trip more manageable cost wise and you get to talk the entire trip about everything. If Ken gives directions then you have even more time to talk :stuck_out_tongue:

any chance to expand on that?
fishguy, i got your pm and i appreciate the compliments. i just though i would share my reply here for anyone else with the same thoughts.

i dont have a bad opinion of Dr. Macs at all. I think he is extremely knowledgable, the facility is top notch, and the staff is incredibly nice. its absolutely worth the trip. i would suggest some caution when purchasing green house frags. i had an incredibly hard time acllimating them from the greenhouse conditions to my tank conditions and i know im not the only one. however, some people have had no trouble whatsoever. also, if you want any of the high end corals you have to ask ahead of time, they typically dont have them at the store.

maybe houndsbayman can jump in here and weigh in. i know he lives VERY close to Macs and buys a lot of stuff from there. no to mention that jon has a LOT nicer tank than me ;D

...but unfortunately there is one garbage spewing trouble maker that wants to defame my character even though he doesn't know me from a hole in the wall....
your right, i dont know you from a hole in the wall. i only have an impression of you from your posts of the last 3 years and i shared my impression to balance out your alarmist thread that absolutely slammed a reputable LFS and a sponsor in an unfair and unfounded manner. for all i know you might be a real nice guy and a great hobbyist, but that not the impression you give off. also, just to fill you in, im not in the minority. you might just want to take a little time to read your posts before you hit the post button. as far as me defaming your character, i dont need to. anyone that responds to my posts with namecalling and veiled threats they way you did defames their character enough, you dont need my help.

now this is just my :TWOCENTS but i think you guys should just chill out a little bit. i made the mistake of getting aggressive about a month ago on this site, and i regretted it almost imediately and eventually came back and put up the old white flag :SURRENDER this is suposed to be fun guys, and i think that if there is someone here that you dont get along with, you should just learn to ignore them instead of making threats and trying to fight ppl. if this continues, the ppl that here for knowledge, and help (like myself) will end up just going to another site because they will not feel “safe” here.

all in all: CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!?!?!!?

PS: sorry for the HJack i just thought something needed to be said.

Quite true. Lets try to keep it pleasant guys, both with each other and in our opinions of the LFS. Constructive criticism is appreciated welcome, but simply bashing LFS isn’t.

Now, back on topic. :stuck_out_tongue:

After a quick Goog, I think they were Australian Tusks. :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree and im a little surprised that my comments were lumped together with the others. I thought i was rather polite and very far from being agressive. I was simply trying to diffuse what i viewed as a very lopsided and inaccurate comment. I dont like or dislike hottuna. I just thought that if the comment went without rebuke that less active members would possible take it as the truth. If my comments came off any other way i apologize, thats not exactly how i pictured my glorious and anticipated comeback Saint:)

If they were aussie thats an amazing price. Larger aussie tusks typically go for between $150-200.

I’m hooked on Dr. Mac Frag Packs. Can’t pass em up.

You have to love a thread where fist-a-cuffs comes into play over reef ideas. Gotta love it.

Oh and Kap I think you are an addict and proud of it.

does anyone know if the newark area is eligible for the dr. macs $15 shipping…last time i ordered something online (not from PA) i wasnt really pleased, so im about to dip my toes in those waters again…

WOW!! saw one last weekend in my journeys around dc, $280!!!

Wow, i hope it was big!! LA has them on sale large aussie tusks on sale right not at $139 down from $229 for 5-8". I would pull the trigger but i dont wont such a large fish getting to comfortable before i get the smaller fish settled.

Yes, Rawdawg, I’m Hooked. But I’m in the Twelve Star-Fish step dancing program , lurning how to cope with it!

Hoping for a full recovery, someday, but not too soon…

What the heck would i do with all these tanks?

Yup! LB, I’m pretty sure all of Delaware is in the post offices next day region one delivery area from Dr. Mac’s. Its a great advantage for us. Costs less than the gas to drive down there and back, plus tolls. as long as you are getting WYSIWYG corals.

But like Chauncey Gardener, “I Llike To Watch” them swim first, live, in the water. So i drive down with the club at least once a year.

And then…There’s the PIZZA!!!

I have been dealing with Dr. Mac’s for many years now and in my opinion he has the most incredible store I have ever seen. And I have purchased plenty of his corals, simply because he has the best to offer. The facility is top notch. Dr. Mac is very knowlegable and runs the business like the pro that he is. No matter where you purchase corals or fish, not every thing you buy will be a gaurantee that it will do fine in your tank. We all take the chance every time we buy something we like. If you check Pacific East Aquaculture website often, you will find some kind of sale going on sooner than later. If we all make wise choices as far as our own particular situations are concerned, we will all be happier reefers.

Yes, last time I was there they said it was, but I’m not exactly sure how you get it.

Also don’t forget, everytime I drive down there Dr.Macs personal prices are little bit lower than the website prices (you can haggle a little too)
