That’s a great tank Idea, ICY… let us know when its up and running so we can all drop by for a weekend in Fl. to see it. You know, you could make that tank as half plywood/epoxy with the two glass viewing sides.

Oh and a rolling gantry platform to lie on to work in the tank. it will have to be right on the top edge for you to reach 30 inches to the bottom. which also means the light assemble will have to eith roll out of the way, or lift up.

Say, this is sounding a bit like the old Oregon Reef tank.

http://oregonreef.com/

only a little bit smaller. and he only had one viewing side. I like that corner idea. almost as good as a 3 sided peninsula tank, if you had the right space to build it in.

OOO pinunsula tank oo… im feeling a T shaped tank

I have been planning the tank for quite a while. The lights are going to be on a pully system that will lift them. The ones I was looking at are used for storing bikes or canoes in the garage.

The plan is to have removable walkway that goes into slots on the stand (metal) so that in the fishroom behind the tank I will be able to stand with my feet at the level of the tank on the two other sides to reach in and move stuff.

I know that it will be a pain to move stuff around, but basically I’ll deal with the hassle if I could ever set up that tank. $$$ is the only real problem.

Just to give everyone a perspective, the tank would be almost identical size to the display at Armco, with the only difference being that it would be 2x as deep from front to back. Otherwise, the same height and length.

$ is always the issue. And seriously always. If you have enough money… Once your spouse gets tired of the aquariums at home you build a public aquarium for whale sharks and massive reef tanks. Then someone else builds a bigger one and it becomes a competition. Even if you build the largest one out there you would want additional viewing windows, larger skimmers, or a cooler shaped aquarium that would be more impressive. There is no limit. We all have huge imaginations and big dreams. This can actually be one of the topics that is the most fun to talk about in the hobby.

Ya everyone wants bigger, i cut the line at 600 gallons lol, in fact i dunno if i even want that lol… if i would i would automate waterchanges, and top off, and feeding, and all that…

ya know, its funny u brought this up. i have been working in the port of wilmington lately. and the fuel storage tanks they have are HUGE! i am guessing… 30-40 ft tall, 100’ diameter. kinda reminded me of the shark tank on ace ventura… anyhow, how friggin awesome would it be to have something like that? you would have to don scuba gear to view your tank. but i would think a few pumps, a huge skimme, and its self sufficient. might even spawn a few species of fish that havent been done in captivity. i guess keeping it warm would be a huge issue, and keep contaminants out of it since the surface is open. i could see myself mixing that salt!!! lol
