I’m having a problem with the eco-flow shroud coming off the mj900, i have in my tank. It started the other day when during a water change, i decided to clean the powerheads off. Now it seems that shroud will move countercock wise and become undone. the powerhead keeps going and the impeller keeps turning and i’m getting unnevered by the tought of one of my fish swimming into a churning impeller blade.any thoughts?
A dab of superglue to keep the shroud in place until calcium/other stuff builds up to hold it in place? I’d superglue it outside of the tank and give it plenty of time to dry and wash it off good before putting it back in the tank. I don’t know if superglue is safe for the tank so I’d wait until someone else chimes in.
Super glue gel is safe for the tank. That’s how most of us mount our corals. It may not be the best solution as it would prevent taking the shroud off for pump cleaning, but it definitely better then not having one. I would try teflon plumbing tape to make a tighter fit between the shroud and the pump housing.
Superglue Gel might be a better bet than regular superglue (both are reef safe), or a little chunk of marine safe epoxy like two little fishes expoxy. Have you looked at the powerhead to make sure that nothing broke while you were cleaning?
Craig… good idea about the teflon tape.
i would use something removeable like a small dab of silicone to keep it from twisting. or perhaps a bit of teflon tape. super glue might hold it but will be harder to clean for the next reasembly or impeller repair/cleaning.
