anyone who still has a glass top on their tank should install a homemade screen top. ellen provided instructions. cooler in summer and provides more light with safety!

it’s easy, less than 15$ and an hour’s time
i have tons of her leftover screening and the spline and tool to put it into the frame, so all that’s needed to buy is the frame and corners, if anyone wants to give it a try.

I am glad the screen top is working for you, but it definitely was not my invention. Message Boards are such a great source of knowledge. I have learned more useful diy stuff on the internet than anywhere else. I am glad I was able to pass on something that was useful.
