emerald crab vs bubble/hair algae!

I got my 1st emerald crab the other day, and put him in my small tank. its cool to watch, its always picking at the rocks, and if a clown swims close it puts its claws out like a little tough guy!

when i turned on the light earlier i looked for him… after a few minutes i spotted him from the top-down view (damn i love this little tank… i finally have a big boy view ::rofl:: )
…and i also spotted 4 or 5 bubble algae that he was picking at, guess i missed them when i re aquascaped #@$^

anyway, when i looked back a couple hours later all of the green bubbly was gone YahoO

Is it that easy? they are still a crab and, suspect… I’m sure they could be opportunistic feeders if their hungry enough::thinking::

Charlie told me if he ever has a nasty rock that needs cleaning he throws it in the emerald tank, wow… he wasn’t kiddin…
I’m a fan of their work now , cleaning house 24/7 ::thumbsup::

anybody else have luck with them cleaning up?

You got one of the good ones. Most are hit or miss just watch them around sps some will pick at the polyps

I have two and they made me happy, I was fighting Caulerpa Racemosa and Caulerpa Serrulata, they got a hold in my display and I’d have to go at them with tweezers onces a week or so, the crabs cleaned up the Caulerpa Racemosa in a couple of days and the Caulerpa Serrulata in about 3 weeks, been over 3 months and no sight of either ::thumbsup::

I threw a half a dozen or so in my tank a little over a year ago after batteling bubble algae for almost a year. I was picking off beer cup fulls every 2 days and just couldn’t get it to go away. Emerald crabs took care of it in about 2 months - completely (as completely as one could hope anyway) gone.

This little crab is great, now it eats hair algae 24/7 GolfC

it shed and nearly doubled in size, now its really green and you can see its flat ended claws… like two pairs of green tweezers constantly manicuring the tank!

i’d get a pic, but its just an emerald crab… and it disappears into the rock if i get within 5ft of the tank, he’s a cautious little guy…
I still can’t believe in all these years i never had one >:::

caulapera eaters i’m getting some too

hahaha, not really #@$^ it didn’t mess with the sps, but went straight to my new zoas from the raffle, clamped onto the biggest polyp and yanked the whole plug from the sand and started taking it away… that was enough for me… caught him easily the next day… and banished him to the sump where he can eat all he wants…

just when i thought they were an all-star CuC member verdict_in
