Tank looks real nice. Little clowns look pretty neat. I’d love to try that but like Shawn said just don’t have the time to really do it.
It isn’t very time consuming just a water change a day and feeding twice a day
Perhaps the cyclop-ezze flakes could be crushed up even smaller then the regular stuff?
Hey, ive still got a jar of Brine Shrimp Direct 's freeze dried rotifers if you want some. I used them to wean my clown fish larvae off live roties to freeze dried roties around day 10 and then finely crushed brine shrimp flake, and then up to micro pellets of Golden Pearls, also from Brine Shrimp Direct.
so if you want some, i can say a heaping tablespoon full will last you 6 months. i got plenty. the 2 oz jar is about a 3 inch cube. in a year of raising fish larvae, i used very little. but it helps the transition from live to dry foods.
But your babies are looking fine. so you are doing it right.
Few New pic’s from yesterday You have to scroll over to see full pictures but if you do you see almost all of the coral from my 39g has been moved over into the 14 and 37

Our baby clam group:
and all our clam’s together
How do u keep your clams upright, mine keep wanting to go on their sides
those are some mighty fine pictures. the coloring is great.
john, are your clams attached to a rock or shell under the substrate. that’s one way to keep them upright.
A rock, but he keeps moving sideways, ill cut a little of the rock off so its smaller then bury it in substrate…
Have you guys had problems with the clam not opening. He lets his mantle out a little bit but he wont open past maybe half an inch… He is small still maybe thats it…
Thanks moliken John, I let them lay in the sand if you want my strategy lol. They reach their foot down, and they grab onto the glass. Sometimes they will be sideways while moving a bit, but I really have no problem with them moving as long as they are happy. I have learned that they like groups, so they are rather content being in their little clam colony lol.
About the mantle, mine are usually open, check your levels, and check the actual mantle, make sure there are no nips or pieces missing… there is a possibility that it is being nipped so it doesn’t want to open. Just a thought though. (You know those angels lol :P)
John
I have a bunch of mine attached but they still move around, they stay on the rock but days they'll be leaning to one side or can completly turn the other direction.
Okay, thanks… I have two of them togther. The one is larger and is fully open and shows no foul signs, so it isnt the water. The clam could be getting light shocked, and i have seen him start to open more, but we will see over the next few weeks. I have had him since Tuesday last week.
The Angel doesnt nip at the clams as of now. He was nipping at a coral the other day, but it turns out he was taking algae off a dead spot where i fragged it. Now that the algae is gone he dosent nip at it.
I put seaweed in for the angel and he nips a little but never fully eats it all. My snails eat a lot of it, but the angel not so much. Does anyone know how to get them to eat more seaweed… Sorry for the hijack, but it is all relevent in the long run…
what kindof clams are those… And ever thought about getting some oysters… I saw some at TFP a few weeks ago…
Looking good Jcling.
John too much algae will foul your tank. Use less if he never eats it fully. If you keep your snails and other clean up crew fat and happy on added algae they won’t touch what is in the rest of the tank as much. Angels will graze on it occasionally, but keep in mind they are omnivores.
Most oysters require a large amount of plankton to survive from what I’ve heard. Probably more then you want to be adding to your tank.
I am going to replace algae in your response with seaweed. And i know i only add 1" by .5" strip and take it out after 3 hours.
From my experience, angels don’t really need Much supplemental seaweed compared to tangs, but I might be wrong.

Algae/seaweed/nory/seaveggies, whatever you want to call them. Sounds like a plan to take it out if not fully consumed, might just consider adding less and less often so it is not necessary to take it out.

Agreed. It is ikely is beneficial to them in some degree, but I’ve never heard of an angel not being healthy due to lack of algae. Tangs, on the other hand, 99% of the time don’t get enough algae, both quantity and variety.
well i havent had many tangs but the two i have owned were/are very healthy. i had my yellow for almost 4 years before losing him in a tank crash and i will have had my regal for two years this june. anyone that has seen my regal will know that she is big, fat, colorful, and healthy without so much as a flaw. neither tang has had so much as a mouthful of nori or seaweed. its just too much of a PIA and it contaminates my tanks. i feed a “green” food every day(mostly hikari spirulana) and dont feed any non-green food witht the exception of blood worms and myssis. I also always add a vitamin and mineral supplement to all frozen food(right now brightwell-M).
Of course im not saying that seaweed is bad i just dont think its necessary with the proper diet and the proper size tank that allows a tang to graze. FWIW ive read several sources that seem to indicate that Nori is really a bad choice for our fish because of the “cleaning” process it goes through for human consumption and that some of the fish food seaweed choices are much more nutritional. might not be anything too it, and its certainly silly to pay more for less, but i thought i would share.
Thank you I’d rather not have a nori discussion here Rather talk about my tank lol
Your tanks and fish are looking great!! I love all of your clowns. That snowcasso is really cool. I wish I had time to raise clowns. My black occs are laying eggs about every 2-3 weeks now.
What do you do with the babies?
