Favorite Parts of the tanks!

Since it has been a while since I have shared my tanks on DRC, figured I would share a few recent pic’s of some of our favorites

First would be our new steal from PetKare II before it even left its incoming bag

Quick pic of a few of our babies:

Our newest clam from DPA:

All of our clams in one pic (shortly after most were moved so not to pretty)

Momma and Poppa laying their most recent batch of eggs

Our Favorite pic of momma and poppa:

Our Favorite pair of clowns  (Grade A picasso, and snowcasso pair)

A quick pic of our WC’s and our tommy tang:

I figure that is a good start, couldn’t find a pic of our black occ. but we will get a pic of them soon, and maybe some of our corals too  Sorry it’s a bit much but wanted to give a quick idea as to some of what we have in our tanks! Sadly, I’m not exactly sure how to fix it yet, but lots of our pic’s are cut off cause they are too big so you need to scroll so I apologize for that and will figure something out so that they are easier to view!

Very nice carpet and great pics!

Nice photographs and seemingly very happy animals. Seems all is going well in your tanks. Glad to see.

Now that the clowns are doing well for you have you considered purchasing a couple pairs of gobies or cardinals? Shouldn’t be too difficult and until they start spawning you could keep them safely with your other animals… Just an idea.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys!

I have considered goby’s but not really cardinals. In the future once I have a larger grow out system, I would like to have both. Cardinals b/c of the whole endangered thing, it would be nice to feel like im helping in some way, and problem w/ goby’s is I can’t figure out what type I like most so right now we just have a scooter and a flametail blenny.

We thought it would be really cool to try breeding these guys: http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=87483
Just way too much money and MUCH harder to do in captivity lol and we don’t have the system for them :).

You got PM.

i like the clams wish i had one in my tank.

How old are the baby clowns now? they look good.

Thanks Ken

I think they are about a month to a month and a half? That picture is about a week old now, but they are getting bigger every day its kinda crazy. What else is funny is we have some that are like 2x the size of the one next to them… Funny to watch them grow

And thank you, the clams are fun and purdy lol.

Some quick update pictures of the new nem that has settled in nicely and pic’s of the babies from today

i might be interested in buying some babies, if your interested in selling them

That sounds great  I am slowly working them onto freeze dried cycolp-ezze and then I will work them into frozen foods of mysis, brine, and cyclop-ezze

sweet, good luck with that!!

Yeah, Mine grew at a varying size too. I think its the pecking order showing itself. dominant ones grow to be big females on down to an omega. i have one omega that is 14 months old and still only 3/4 inch long living with all its big , full grown siblings. I spose if i put it in a tank by itself, it will grow.

so jealous. i can not wait till i have the time to devote to breeding. it seems like it would be fulfilling!

Agreed Shawn, it really is enough just seeing them grow every day, its amazing how these little guys just keep truckin lol. :GOLD)

Shawn… do you still have your yellow assessor? You could always get that a mate and eventually breed them when they start laying eggs.

its funny that you should bring that up! i picked up an ORA assessor several months ago and paired them up in my 265g. they have been inseperable every since. i also still have my maroon pair, my black occ. pair, and a pair of red spot cardinals.

Nice. Any of them showing spawning behavior, or just paired up for the moment?

the maroons were spawning regularly before i broke down my 75g. if they have in the 265g i havent noticed. the rest just seemed to be paired up at the moment.

Shawn, do you still have your female madarin? you can always find her a mate. Breeding them would be challenging , but a nice project. I think Julian Sprung told us he raised some. Others have too. Tank raising mandarins would be a humane advancement in mandarin sales. since i guess most wild caught are still speared?

My favorite joy of raising a couple hundred Ocellaris is when they form up a bait ball when you come to the tank, and 400 eyes are all lined up looking at you from a tight meat ball. Imagine the rainbow of color from a bunch of mandarins! Well, maybe they don’t meat ball, they just look like a crazy mosaic on the sand bed.
