Fish issues

So just a rundown of what we have
yellow eye kole tang, that minds his own business
powder blue tang The problem
foxface the victim
multiple clowns
lawnmower blenny
bengai cardinals
mellanarious wrasse

we bought the 2 tangs together with no problems, but when the powder blue got his territory established he became a prick, then we bought the foxface to get rid of some bubble algae and the thought was the blue would not mess with the foxface, Wrong

anyway, should we attempt to get the powder blue out of tank and send him on his way, or attempt to get a couple more tangs and hope that the blue will not focus on just one fish. what are your thoughts

You could put the tang in a qt tank for a bit and re introduce him later down the road. Or get rid of him and try another powder blue tang.

What would you think is a good time frame for quarantine?

I would think 2 - 4 weeks at a minimum. Could take much longer but with the fish’s temperament that may not even help.

Depending on how many corals you have and how much flexibility you have with you rockscape you may want to try rearranging your rocks. This will ultimately “reset” the tangs territory and will allow all the fish to re-establish themselves at once. It may be worth a shot before removing the fish completely and placing in quarantine. I like the quarantine idea but you have to set it up, make sure it’s cycled and big enough for a powder blue. Then you need to make sure you have the proper filtration for the quarantine tank to keep it running. Powder blue tangs can be pretty sensitive. My :TWOCENTS would be re-arranging the rocks first then quarantine if that doesn’t work.

Thank you for the replies. Rearranging the aquascape would be a major undertaking at this point. Ugh All because of one fish. But ya kno I guess I’m not alone, I imagine we’ve all gone throu it

I am sure a lot of us have been through this. Even though these fish are compatible their temperament may not be. Always a risk we take when bringing new fish into a small confined space.

QT is a good idea. You could also try an acclimation box.
