so i decided to add a couple fish for the bigger tank, a niger trigger, that now has explosive ich, and a magnificent foxface who was stuck to the power head this morning, hasnt eaten and was being picked on by a yellow tang. I am not a fish person, nothing worse than adding a fish and watching it get picked on by the others especially a $100 one so what should I do is there any help for them?
I’m not really a fish person either, but how hard is it for you to get them out? and maybe put them in your basement till they recover. I’m guessing you didn’t QT them as well.
No qt I can get them out but afraid the foxface is too far gone already and that will stress it more
best thing you could try for the foxface is to get him out and into a low flow tank and feed it vita chem or selcon. If you cant get it out and get it to eat fortified food it most likely will not make it.
Yeah I will try maybe put it in the sump it’s low flow and pretty big
I’d dose some vitamin C as well. It’s good for an immune system boost and cuts and scrapes IME
Hey tim just a heads up, know that the ich will most likely spread to your display fish if you put it in your main sump. I have selcon at the house if you need some and also have some ich med you can use sense its a fallow tank
I scooped it up and put it in the sump its laying on its side tried feeding algae sheets with selcon and garlic and mysis and brine but didn’t eat anything It’s not looking good. where do I get vitamin c and dose directly to tank?
well, you might research the old fresh water dip to kill ich fuzzies on the fish. i think it goes like take RO water, add some buffer to adjust the PH, add a heater and air stone to make it warm and breathable. then dip the fish a fiew minutes, and hope you see the ich fuzzies “pop”. then back to the QT tank. i think that is the old school theory. repeat once a day as neeeded?

Most lfs should carry vit c. Dose in tank according to the directions.
Or, yu could do a tank treatment with KICK-ICH made by Ruby Reef, in Owings Mills, Md.

I think ive seen some on the shelf at DPA. doesnt harm corals and stuff in reef tanks.
I have the kick ich the fish that I was worried about didn’t have ich. I’m not too worried about ich due to most fish and tanks have it. It was a magnificent foxface that died it didn’t make it.
Sorry to hear tim. Aside from the cost of that fish (which I know wasnt cheap) it sucks to see one go down.
Yeah $100 could’ve bought frags with that lol. I think corals are way easier. I see a lot of posts that sps is really hard to do. But fish are a pia. I get so mad when you add a fish and it gets picked on by the others. With corals you don’t have to worry. So now I think the 210 is getting tied in and going mixed reef may have to do some Lps in there so I don’t have to load up on lights
And that’s why I hate keeping fish. My tanks has always been minimal fish in it due to all the problems it causes.
I am with you can’t get over it. I do like fish but my heads full of coral knowledge no room for fish too lol
