Gonna try to run out a couple times this week, anyone interested in going?
Run out where?
We usually go out from cedar creek, though I’m waiting to see the reports from the weekend. Just in-bay stuff, I can’t go out with the big boys.
Hey Joe, we went out on Saturday fishing at the inside of OC inlet and surrounding waters and picked up 20 flounder. But of course, all were shorts, no keeps.
John let me know when you are going out again and we can meet up. We went out of Lewes last week, caught a bunch of croaker, legal but all small.
Oh, I was hoping for some offshore action … I am heading out to the Washington Canyon for some marlin/tuna fishing in the next few weeks, about 60-70 miles out from OC MD.
Yeah Tim, I’ve only a 19.5 CC. But if you or anyone else here ever feel like slumming it on my boat, consider yourself invited.
I’ll go, just say when!
am i invited?

Absolutely. I think I am going out on Wednesday and Saturday this week, you guys let me know if you can make it!
That would be cool, Joe. I know I am heading out on Friday with my daughter, weather permitting, and maybe Sunday also.
Hey, have yous guys signed up for Sue’s weekly fishing report? I get it in the email every week. somewhere here or on her website you can sign up for emails. it covers OC md offshore and indian river bay.

you can get some mid bay reports around light houses here from the jersey side report.
well, thats a few. you can find more on the web yourself.
Fish On!
Here is a good one for the OC MD area, what I look at for offshore.
thats OK for canyon fishing. but I think Joe needs better, current fishing location info for bay fishing, and not too far from port. the bay can and often does kick up pretty bad on seemingly nice days. a boat captain has to monitor when the wind might run against the tide. thats when the standing waves get very tall, sharp and stacked up close together. it makes for a really bad ride home in a small to medium size boat.
The “Hot Dog” should be doing good for schooly size yellow fin about now. only 38 miles SSE of indian inlet. the charter boats anchor up and keep a steady chum slick going there 24/7 this time of year. The fish come in and hang around. i once went on a 56 foot charter there. we expected to catch 30 pound schoolies. but instead, a new school of 300 pound Big Eye ran through our baits. i had one on for 45 minutes, had him to the boat 6 times, but we were anchored, and couldnt plane him out to the surface to gaff. so it was a short line release, as the gale winds were hitting 40 and the rain was pouring down. we had to head for shore in 12 foot seas. but it was a nice fish. about 6 feet long, as round as a 5 gallon bucket. on another trip i did catch a 65 pound big eye there too. landed that one.
I might try another one of those over night 24 hour head boat tuna trips out of Brielle, NJ again this fall. they go out about 90 miles in october, … last time i caught 5 65 pounder long fin tuna. but i only kept two, as i didnt have freezer room for even one. the others i long line released before the mates could gaff em.
Anybody interested in a overnight trip this fall?
Good times Ken!
My friend was a charter captain out of OC MD in the 80’s. He had a 38’ Sundancer but now just has a 28’ seafox CC so we like to keep it around 3-5’ seas max
Last trip out i caught a 55 lb yellow fin in about the first 5 minutes we were trolling, but then skunked the rest of the day as the sea grass was all on the surface and getting caught in the baits alot. But I can’t complain about free!
Hey Joe!
So did yous guys go out? and if so, how was the fishin? Did you find a hot spot for flounder, croakers, weakies or sea bass?
Any pics of catch of the day?
Remember, no matter what, a bad day fishing is still better than a good day working.
Went out yesterday, fished around the Rte 50 brigde area with a buddy of mine. We caught about 20 flounder and had 2 keepers, 21 inches and 19 inches. Fresh fish dinner, hmmmm good.
