Flooded Basement!

I know it’s been said time and time again, but if only one person learns from my stupidity this post is worth it!

I finally set up my RODI permanently and tied it into the washing machine line, but last night I screwed up big time while making water…I FOR GOT TO SET SOME TYPE OF REMINDER!!! I don’t have a float switch or anything so I just have to turn the ball valve on/off and last night we were relaxing on the couch with a movie and both of us fell asleep. When we woke up it was just a stumble up to bed and my dumb a$$ completely forgot the RODI was still running…WHOOPS!!!

Needless to say I woke up to a mess today, lol. At least it’s very clean water, hahaha. Silver lining, right???

Ok, I’m done ranting now  Hopefully someone can learn from me having my head up my butt.

forget the timer, and install the float, they are cheap no reason what so ever for not installing one.

Those float switches are fairly reliable, but I play it safe with this. Max run time 4 hrs and you don’t have to worry about cleaning the salt creep off your float switch.

Take it from the expert in cleaning up that very mistake. Invest in a $5 float switch.

If you have a dehumidifier plug it in in the room the leak was in, they do a great job of getting rid of all of the water on the floor…and in the carpet…and dry wall…and they do it fast before the wife notices (if you’re lucky).

Sorry to hear but it can ALWAYS be worse, sucks that it happened but now you know you need to get some kinda shut off system. Float systems work have one on my 60 gallon water change barrel and one on the 30 gallon top off barrel for years and no problems. I have the ones with just a simple float that raises up and shuts the water off.

Oh mine is tied into the washer valve/hose bib too in my kitchen closet. no float on my barrel in the pantry closet next to it, Ive probably flooded the kitchen and hall capet 30-40 times. oh well, i got a shop wet vac. works good. gets all the dirt out of the rug too.
