I guess what I was trying to say is I want to purchase one of your frags so I would like to see a decent picture of them from someone who has also purchased them from you. This is so I can see what I am going to be getting. I don’t know how else to say it Jon. It is not that I am trying to decide, but I just want to see an accurate picture of what I will be getting when I buy them from you. ;D
I can get you some pictures tomorrow if you want. I just have to borrow my sisters good camera with macro mode. Mine doesn’t take very good shots.
Although no two frags are created equal. You might get bigger polyps etc.
Lol ok. Just sounded wierd the way you said it. I was wondering if you might be collecting pictures for a secret reef club thing you and Shawn were working on for next year, but didn’t want to say that, so were just trying to get people to post pics… yeah I think too much into things.
Polyps will probably be the same size as even though they have multiplied a million times in my tank they have never gotten any bigger in size. These are Protopalythoa, but not Protopalythoa grandis.
The purple deaths I see online always look huge, maybe mine still haven’t opened all the way? I mean they are open just tiny.
May be macro shots that just make them look huge? Not sure. Also know that most corals will take on different growth forms in different tanks due to different conditions. Perhaps there is something that can be done to help them grow larger, but I wouldn’t be sure what exactly. Nutrients, flow, and lighting all influence corals growth structure. The species you got from me I have got from a friend of mine and I watched them multiply in his system from about 5 polyps to close to 50, none of them got larger then the polyps I gave you. Saw the same thing happen when I put them in a tank that I work on for the company I work for. Let me see if I can find growth pictures from his tank.
Opps I was mistaken the purple deaths only tripple in size in the clients system. They didn’t seem to like being right under the solaris light fixture and then may have been kept at bay by some aptasia. Images are crappy and not worth uploading.
I will shoot some food at them with the turkey baster tonight and see what happens. Maybe it will beef them up more! I’ve hear of some peoples being dime sized or less, while others being over that.
But like you said different tanks different conditions. Not to mention macro shots can be decieving.
I think mine still had some room to grow. I can see my frag in one of thr pictures u posted and some of thr other frags or colonies have bigger polyps. Then again these are my first time seeig them in person.
P.S. Thr=the. For some reason my iPhone won’t correct that typo!!!
A tru purple death paly is purple with a silver skirt, much like the nuclear green paly is green with a silver skirt. The ones people are describing as purple with a green skirt sound like a “Purple People Eater”. Another similar one is a “Joker” paly. The True PPE has a green mouth slit as well. I will try and run down and shoot a pic pf my purple deaths and post em up.
