I will soon be selling a used 72" MH/T5 fixture. I don’t have it in my hands yet so I am not sure the exact model or specs. I know it had 8 36" T5 lamps and three double ended metal halides, but I am not sure on the wattage.
Maybe this one:?
It was working perfectly before we took it off my friends tank and two of the T5 bulbs are only a couple of months old. Includes all of the bulbs and ballast, but most of the bulbs should be replaced soon. (NEVER use all brand new bulbs on top of an aquarium as you’ll shock your animals, so replace them slowly and carefully.)
I plan to sell it dirt cheap to move it and if no one is interested here before I pick it up I won’t even hold onto it I’ll just take it to an LFS on consignment. If you think you may be interested let me know ASAP.
It is a “Current Outer Orbit 3x250 watt HQI w/ HO t-5 actinics, 250 Phoenix 250 watt, 14k MH bulbs”
I found the same fixture online on one site for $1,647.24 and another for $1449.99 (probably plus shipping)
Many of the MH bulbs were replaced in the last 6 months I believe, but I can’t tell you how long ago exactly. All but two of the T5s are due to be replaced, but two were only run for a couple of months.
I really really wish I could just set up a 6’ tank of my own, but just can’t swing it at this point.
I know reefcentral doesn’t like auctions or bidding, but we don’t place by ReefCentrals rules do we?
I am not an officer so not my decision but my opinion would be that if you are going to ask for bids you need to put a starting bid and a deadline and be willing to accept the high bid at the deadline.

I agree if no starting bid at least a end date and time.
If you want to go there then I will give you your loop hole, give your Price and a or best offer, which is allowed and if the offers are more then your asking price that is still acceptable.
There are rules and regulations that go along with auctions and one them I think is they must be open to the public which our Market Place section is not.
Craig says set up a private option Hudzon says auctions have to be open to the public, lol.
Price with best offers sounds like the best way to go as I’ve seen it over and over again in the threads.
This fixture goes for at least $1300 new. It’s in pretty good shape and was working perfectly when we took it down. Let’s say $550 OR BEST OFFER. I don’t want to sit on this thing so I’m looking to take any reasonable offer into consideration, so shoot me a PM if you might consider taking this from me.
Please send me offers if I sit on this thing too long either my girlfriend is going to kill me for sitting on my stuff I’m not even using or I’m going to try to figure out a way to carry a 6’ tank into my basement.
Problem is if you auction and start it at $5 and nobody else bids on it, you just sold it for $5… unless you set a reserve which people must meet before it sells, at which point you might as well just set as the price.

Careful what you wish for ::[/quote]
What was I wishing for?
I’ve received some offers via PM, but not the $550 yet. First to my door with $550 cash takes it or I’ll take the best offer later this week. I am still waiting to hear back from a couple people who PMed me first, I want to give them a chance since they were the first who contacted me.
If I had a 6’ tank I would be interested. I have the same fixture over my 75g tank. Very nice setup. seperate ballasts for the hqi’s and fans in the unit to keep the t5 ballast cool and another to keep the unit cool if just hqi are on. I am not sure what best offer is atm so I will offer $100 to start the offers
Since the other two who were interested stopped responding that is the best offer so far. May have to keep it if no one else speaks up. Then again I may let it go for $100.
