Well its been 2 weeks since we got the samples from Gary at Get tanked and I wanted to hear what you think of the products. Here is a message Gary sent to me in an email:
[Quote]I want to personally thank your and your fellow DRC members for trying my Saltwater Correct Products, Thank You!
The attachment is detailed on what free samples I’m sending to you and your fellow DRC members.
I want you and your fellow DRC members to have the highest confidence when using my Saltwater Correct products for the first time. I’ve been using my Saltwater Correct products since “2000†on my own 3,000 gallon aquaculture systems.
To give you an idea about my Saltwater Correct products, I’ll give you an example: the last time I read the label of Kent Turbo Calcium it stated that their calcium purity was (Min) 30% (Max) 40%, please verify with your fellow club members who uses Kent Turbo Calcium. My Saltwater Correct Calcium Chloride purity is (Min) 94% (Max) 97% and I would like to state that I do not use any products from the manufacture of DOWFLAKE and my Saltwater Correct Calcium Chloride is not contaminated with Bromide!
I consider all my Saltwater Correct product line an high-end product at an low-end price.
Can you please inform DRC members that if they have any question or concerns to contact me directly by either calling me at 717-243-9545 or for them to e-mail me a contact phone number (gettanked@comcast.net) and I will call them back on my dime to answer their questions?
Also if you have questions about the products, call or email Gary. He can give you the correct answers. I have talked to him quite a few times, really easy to talk to. If you missed the last meeting and would like to try some of the salt, I have some.
At the meeting I gave away a lot of products and didn’t hold any products back. I decided to make up a bucket of salt first. I used a 5-gallon bag of salt. It was easy. With a standard 5-gallon pail with a power head and a heater I tossed in the salt. Waited 2 days to age the salt then did my water change. I really like the pre-made 5-gallon bags. It’s a no brainer. Now I wanted to test Gary’s numbers and while I don’t have a test kit for every ingredient I did have the big 4. I made a 25 gallon batch of salt an let it age 3 days. Now because I wanted to test and get the real numbers I added the calcium to the water. (slowly) I read that before you add the calcium the Alk and Ph are a little high. This makes since Alk, Mg and calcium are tied together. Also Alk affects the PH.
See here http://reef.diesyst.com/flashcalc/flashcalc.html
On Garry’s site he lists this:
SG: 1.026, Magnesium: 1350 ppm, Calcium: 450 ppm, Alkalinity: 10 dKH, pH: 8.4 and Borate: 4.5 mg/L and all major and minor trace elements.
My results were right on. SG: 1.026(refractometer), Mg 1300 ppm(color chart), calcium: 450 ppm, Alk 3.5 meq/l, Ph 8.35(digital meter). This is better then my Instant Ocean salt. And I consider this IO bucket better then the last bucket, which I had to doctor all the time.
I have found a new salt. It’s a great product at a great price and its local.
I really liked this page; it’s an eye opener. Look at some of the ingredients in artificial salts. http://gettankedaquariums.com/index_file/2.Part.Artificial.Sea.Salt.File/Artificial.Sea.Salt.2.Part.Gallon.Mix.Main.Page.htm
I didn’t have the need to use the 2-part system yet since my numbers in the tank are right on.
Hmm… if the salt mixes with numbers that good I might have to get it once my current bucket is empty. I would love to support someone local and his prices seem to be really reasonable (especially if we get together a bulk order… im not running it though)
i am interested in getting more of the salt myself. what is the sises and cost as it stands without a large group purchase and with large purchase? or have we not got that far yet?

Group…I have a good working relationship with Garry at Gettanked, and have been using his products for some time. I would be more than happy to organize a group buy if the club wants me to. If we can get this together QUICK…I can probably meet Garry at a work location he is curently at to pick up all the stuff. Garry is in Carlisle PA which is about 2 and a half hours from me. He is currently working at a home that is only about a half hour from me. If we can get the buy together while he is still working at that location it would be NICE…
I have completed about 5 water changes with Get tanked salts and I love it. Some zoas that have never opened are huge. Even my wife has commented about the size of the mushooms.
I feel 100% confident in saying everyone that uses Garry’s products will be extremly happy. His stuff is by far better than anything I have used in the past. His carbon produces 0 phosphates, his purple seaweed is like candy to my tangs and the salt is top notch. For the club members that got in on this group buy you will be extremly happy with the way your tank looks after a couple water changes. Also for the people that got in on this group buy consider yourself lucky…Due to the increased prices in everything else Garry had to raise his price on the salt. He went from 44.99 to 49.99. Dont get me wrong his salt is worth every penny or even more of that price.
I want to thank Garry for delivering this order for us. He drove 2.5 hours to drop the stuff off at my house.
I will see everyone at the meeting tonight. Looking forward to meeting everyone. BILL

Interesting. That was the biggest thing I noticed, as well. My zoas love this stuff!
I finally got around to doing a w/c with Gary’s salt. I did a 25 Gal. change on a total system volume of about 90-95 gal. So close to a 25% change. All the corals seemed to “perk up” almost over night.
Not sure if it’s Gary’s salt, or me finally doing a w/c, but so far I’m sold on this stuff. Now I’m wishing I had done this before the group buy … lol.
Ive noticed a difference in my tank, and while im not sure if it was the new lights or the salt, or more likely both, I have to say ill be going with gary’s stuff if/when i ever run out again. I stocked up with 300gal worth of salt, and I am quite pleased with the readings that I get off the water. I also like the idea that I’m not adding stuff that I dont need in the tank simply to keep the salt dry.
When we get to the point we need at least 10 - 15 cases of salt. That way I can try to talk Garry into delvering it for us. He does have some awesome other products as well. I use his carbon and love it. I also get his purple seaweed and my tangs go crazy for it. Check out his website www.gettankedaquariums.com if we get enough people I will organize it again and bring it to a meeting.
