Good Idea? If I get an MP20 with

my current two Korolia 4 for my 92 gallon corner tank.

I am thinking of putting the two 4 on the back end and the Mp20 on the side front glass?

What do you think?

is the side front glass flat on a corner? i cant picture it in my head, but the vortechs can only be placed on flat glass and can not be angled. that happens to be my only complaint about these pumps. other than that they are awesome. ive got an MP20 in my 34g and Ellen has an MP40. i know she thinks very highly of these powerheads as well.

back on topic, i think, even for SPS, that might be to much flow since the K4s are always on. maybe you can consider selling the K4s to purchase an MP40? that should cover most of your flow needs and if not you can always pick up a small nano powerhead for any deadspots. I would really suggest the tunze nano streams. I just bought one for my frag tank and it is insane, hands down the best poweheads on the market.

I dont know if one powerhead would be enough for the tank. I know the MP40 is strong but wouldn’t that allow deadspots?

Possibly, thats why i said you still might need a nano size powerhead. However, the vortechs like the tunze are create a very soft, broad water movement. I would be surprised if you needed more than an MP40 and maybe one smaller nano.

mmmmmm yeah that sounds right. I have to draw this up. mmmmmmmmmmm

What kind of corals are you keeping?

The nice thing about the vortechs is that they come with controllers. The have two different random modes and two different pulse modes. Ive seen vids of people that can dial these things in to create the wave effect that waveboxes create. Im not sure this would be possible in a corner tank but i think you might be surprised with the amount of movement created by these things. Its very subtle. You wont notice anything being blown over but everywhere you look there is some water movement. Deadspots are usually a result of rockwork and arent always bad. Having low flow spots are good if you have corals with different flow requriements and also make maitenance easy. I have one little spot in my 34g where all the detritus settles. It makes keeping my sandbed clean very easy.

I do like the mp40’s. The flow they create is so wide and gentle you would be surprised how much water movement they create. The undertow is another important feature that you don’t get with many other powerheads. You really don’t need to aim them. I have two on my 95g and they are really all the flow I need. I do have a small nano stream down near the bottom in the back just to blow out inside the larger rock formation, but I really don’t think I need it.

Ok i am sold. Now i have to upgrade the cash. LOL

Its funny Marine depot says this includes free shipping. It better for 415 a pop. LOL!!!

I am keeping some new SPS (acros, softies, and zoids) plus bubbletip. Oh and a ric.

I forgot to mention that you can dial them back any where from 10% all the way up to 100%. I am running my two at about 75% and that is plenty.

Just saw these in Ellen’s tank last night and they are pretty sweet powerheads…a little $$$ but nice all the same, she’s got two and the looks to have plenty of flow.
