Grammer is highly over rated in todays pictoral, emoticon world. The mind is self correcting.
cluod not blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid. Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch sudty at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh? Yaeh and I awlyas thgouht slpeling was ipmorantt.
Ken, grammar is not highly overrated. It is a wonderful tool to teach kids logical thinking, it is a fascinating subject in its own right, just as reefing, physics, or anthropology is, and its failure to be understood is keeping the U.S behind other countries.
i never mind the splling mtsakes as yuo wlodu put it, but i would like to see sentences written so they say what the writer really wants them to say. but that’s just me and my love of the language.
As Mark Twain said, “The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.”
why is it important to use 10 ml of DT water per 6 drops of test kit reagent and not 1.0 ml or .6 drops, but not important to know the difference between there, they’re, and their?
Ken you really said that on the board when we have a former English teacher on the board who now works for a publish company? I know you said that because you love pulling out that quote with jumbled words, lol. How did you make out in the storm?
I’ll tell you one thing. One person I totally respected and admired in the past was taken down a massive notch when he actually published a book FILLED with grammar mistakes and misspelling. I’m pretty bad myself, but will also have three-four people look at something before I publish it.
If it weren’t for spell check, I wouldn’t have no grammer at all!

what a great sentence: weren’t is a weird correct construction called subjunctive. most people would write if i wasn’t. ken is right
the use of wouldn’t have no is interesting because it really means ‘would have,’ but written this way it emphasizes the importance of ken’s spell checking and agrees with the ! at the end. totally legit use.
finally the misspelling of grammar with an er completes the sentence and makes it perfect.
LOL! Way to go english teacher.
But, As far as I know, our site doesn’t have spell check. Dang, I finally passed an English test!
Oh Oh! Me thinks I slipped one by the Old Professor. You missed the double negative Paul.

the ol perfesser caught it, absolutely, ken. what i said was:

i didn’t need not to mention no double negative by name
