Igot a african red knob starfish 4-5 inches awsome red and white in color but not reef safe willing to trade for a couple of frags /fish/ clams for those that have a tank he can live in.
Be careful, they need a well set up tank… and most die eventually
Thanks for the heads up i was trying to offer it to other’s before i ship him back it was sent to me by accident. vivid was suppose to send me a sand shifting starfish. lol they missed by a mile.
That stinks. As John said they usually don’t make it long at all in captivity. Never known anyone who kept one for more then a year. Really wish stuff like this would get black listed or something until advances in the hobby make it possible for use to keep them.
They die primarily from starvation right? Then in that case i don’t think there will ever be an advance that would make tank suitable for certain types. Wow, they really did mess up. did you email them?
I spent him back without any major issues . Decided to pass on the starfish i have 4 dwarfs in my tank now and i am sure in time i will have them coming out of my ears.

Thats what was probably though about the Longnose Filefish. They are obligate corralivores in the wild and were doomed to starvation. That is until recently when people figured out how to train them to eat prepared foods and now I believe on of the officers is keeping them.
Well said Bellamy. Some animals we understand the food source and it is just not currently available.(or affordable) Other animals such as many star fish if you look them up it says the biologist currently do not understand their diet. We need to try to understand the animals first.
