gotta give huge thanks

to ken and jon. great advice and links on led’s and their general unsuitability.

No problem. Glad to lend a hand. Forum and club do come to some useful help occasionally, lol.

I wish LEDs were a viable option at this point, but it doesn’t seem like it will be in the foreseeable future.

You’re welcome, But I do like LEDs for flashlights. I got a little collection going. under water ones too.

They are a good idea, and one day their time will come. Just need a bit more work. and a whole lot of patent infringement coordination before they come to market again. I am disapointed about that.

i feel bad for anyone who bought solaris, i HEARD they went out of buisness and you cant get any service from them on existing fixtures. LED’s dont prodouce enough PAR for coral growth is all i ever heard.

although the low temp and enegery benefits sounded grand!

supposedly they are still working on the tech. of them and there is still hope!

The par ratings seemed to be good out of many of the fixtures, but for some reason corals weren’t growing well under them. I know of two tanks currently using them and although it sustains life, the growth is only fast on the corals whose growth rates are more dependent on direct feeding then on the lighting.
