Hello all

I seem to have alot of bristle worms and looking to thin them down so another reason for removing the rocks and cleaning them.

As far as lighting. I have a light I made. It has 3 175 watt metal halide bulbs (14000 k lights) 2 6 foot vho atinic lights and 2 4 foot vho daylighht bulbs. Saw a post on here and it directed me to a guy who madea LED light which is what I'm interested in.(Very low heat and very little power draw). Not sure yet.

well one of the guys on here has a bristle worm trap. u could use this to gadge your infestation. bristle worms aid in clean up and shouldn’t be a problem until they get really really big which could be a possibility in your tank just because of the large amount of water.

Hey, thanks for the pictures. Your tank looks fine… yeah, it did look better before but it isnt horrible at all. Did most of the corals die or did you simply sell them off over time? Just curious.

I am the same way as you with corals… Acros are nice, but I dont have the best luck in the world. I also prefer softies/LPS because you get alot more movement and they fill in faster to make the tank look full. When you decide you are ready to start working on restocking it let me know, I’m sure I can find a frag or two in my tank you would like.

It sounds like you have a nice mix of fish… they all look really healthy from what I can tell. Is that a green polyp toadstool in the last picture?

Hey Icy will take you up on that but I want to restruture the rocks little different and then gonna start. Most of the colt coral I gave away just because it was over running the tank. I had 3 massive colonies of elecrtic green star pulips and gave alot of that away the others just started to shrink and they went away. The clams were being pecked at by a agressive algae blenny, litterly watch it rip on a clams mantle annd stressed them until they died. Only seen it do it to one but sure the other met the same fate.

I did make the bristle worm traps awhile back just gotta dig them out.

You could collect and sell them to other tankers that need some. bristle worms are part of a clean up crew. if you have a lot, the tank is dirty and has a lot of food lieing around. if it cleans up, their numbers will drop accordingly. till then pass them around, if they are the little two tone, pinkish/brownish ones. they are perfectly reef safe and good.

They are little pink with the little white bristles, I was feeding alot of fish at one point, but some have passed on due to age. My last yellow tang was over 7 years old guess they can't last for ever LOL.

More conserned with some of the bigger ones that I have seen. If anyone needs any can catch some. Looking to get some clams and want to make sure there not going to mess with them. Last ones I had were picked on by a algae blenny that would peck and rip at thhe mantel enough that they got stressed enough shrunk and died.

well for $19.95 you could purchase the wonderful martin trap… i usually use mine monthly to weed out my population. just got 19 the other night one was about 5 inches long.

I have a couple that I made out of 1/2 pvc that seem to work pretty well. Just as well as the clear green one that you can purchase. I bought one of the small green traps and the return flow blew it under the rocks and have not got it back yet. verdict_in. I know there benifictial but they were alway bad news. But when I looked though the worm pics I was was thinking of the fireworms and gettig them confused >LOCO<. I have a few bigger ones bout 4-5 inches long. But most of them are on the smaller size.
