Just an introduction. My boyfriend and I live Delaware and have done everything possible with freshwater. From Pacus and other randoms, then to brilliantly awesome Dicus, a freshwater singray, rams, plecos (BIG mistake), then tried our hand with African Peacock cichlids (all males) in a 55 gallon aquarium. Then we moved into an apartment above a federal post office, and the building was a little shotty, so we had to give the fish tank a rest.
Now, 3 years later, we’ve purchased an awesome 65 gallon, filled with all sorts of goodies that can be seen on my face book page, plus some soft corals yet to be posted. Enjoi.

i’m glad all you young kids are worried about my existence. thnx
Thanks for the greetings, guys!! Like I said, we’re new to the whole salt water scene, but so far completely effing infatuated! I will be sure to post more pics in my profile following this reply.
Actually, question: We have about six to seven pounds of live rock rubble in the sump, as well as a fist full of chaeto macro algae, not to mention the 1.5 inches of live sand and close to 30 pounds of live fiji rock in the aquarium itself. The tank is about two weeks old, it cycled within the first week and is sustaining all of our fish, inverts, and corals just fine, but we’re experiencing another spike of nitrite after adding two more fish and two more corals. We did a 12% water change about an hour ago, and the nitrite/nitrate showed virtually no change. Is it a simple matter of waiting and testing, or do we need to do another water change tomorrow?
Also, should we turn our overflow into a deep sand bed? Do you feel as though that will help us get rid of our nitrate problem? It’s a good sized corner overflow. And if we do decide to make a DSB, will the particulate sand in the water bother the fishes’ gills if it gets stirred up to much?
Thanks again, guys. Any advice is good advice, even if it is advise. abcd
