HOLDFAST by marineland

Has anyone ever used this before its had time to harden up? I want to use it to kill some nuisance critters, which I posted about awhile back. So it would be soft when entered into water. Not sure if it would leach some sort of chemical into the tank? Thanks Lee

This should be safe. Also if you are looking for a cheaper alternative there is AquaMend. You can pick this up at your local Home Depot. This should do the same thing as this HoldFast. I’ve used AquaMend before and I like it.

Ok great, just wondering did you use this AquaMend will it was still pliable or once it was hardened in the water? I want to use it still pliable and put it in on a rock. thanks

I used it when it was still pliable.

most of these things are designed for under water application. especially the marineland product.

sweet, Thanks guys

Don’t worry, Lee. It’ll be pliable for a long time. In fact, if you’re covering nuisance critters, You’ll probably be able to pop it back off the rock in a few weeks if you wanted. I’ve also seen where people have covered aiptasia (small ones) with Super Glue Gel. Not sure what you’re going after.

But the Aquamend and the HoldFast are essentially the same thing.

Yea I thought about using Super Glue Gel but just wansnt convinced that it would kill these things. Lee

THis is the original nuisance post

It’s more like burying them alive, either way.

A lot of people also mix up some kalk and apply a small amount of it to critters to kill them. If you need some kalk let me know.

WHOA!!! What are you trying to get rid of? Aptaisia? Ian is right, Kalk solutions sprayed into its mouth works great. or there are removal meds for them too. concreting over seems a bit crude. and probable wont get the ones on the back side of the rock. only to reproduce again. and again, and again…

So, Whuts the problem? … Bunky!

I think its a moss rose anemone, as fare as I can see there where just 3 on one rock all somewhat close bye. Iv never used Kalk before, but I think Ill take Ian up on his offer for some.

Thanks Lee
