how are the new frags doing?

? the green tipped finger leather i recieved seems right at home. i just finished my closed loop system and need to reverse the flow, cause my dumb a*s hooked it up backwards. but seems to be better flow in tank even backwards. :-[ i hope that the pink lettuce is doing good to the 2 that recieved it.

wooooohoooooo the zoas i got are way cool ;D

i agree if we were to place cards or a flyer in pet store ,we would definitly get more members to jion. Paper is cheap advertising. i am also think we as members could place flyers around to get more members.

They were originally mine. I beleive they are called “Envy of Red” thats the closet referance but I prefer to call them Pink Valentine Zoas.

Our new little red sea xenia are pulsing right away happy as pigs in … well… ya know.

one idea (and i can’t claim it’s originally mine) is to team with a LFS sponsor for an ‘educational’ night.

the idea would be for the store to advertise this event for the public as a ‘find out about fish’ night/day. local fish club members (DRC and possibly Del FW club) would be on hand to answer questions at the store, maybe extend that to having a few presentations.

[ul][li]Behind the scenes in the LFS backroom[/li]
[li]DRC sponsored frag tank[/li]
[li]Meeting giveaways[/li]
[li]Semi-annual discount program that gives members a larger discount based on the amount purchased by the club in the past 6 months[/li]
[li]Once a year stock up event for DRC members[/li]
[li]Copy of Photoshop for the club  ;D  ::)[/li][/ul]

That’s good ICY that the xenia is doing fine. Having come from my tanks, it likes living in… Well… You Know!! It should grow and multiply and spread all over the place. Mine seem to be happy on my overflow box right now. Which is great, i just scrape a stem bundle off and drop on the sand in the frag tank, then after a couple days it sticks to some crushed coral, and then i glue the xenia to a rock by the gravel stuck to it. easy propagation.

Im surprised the green birds nest frag Mike gave me is still haveing great polyp extension and bright color in my lower lighting frag tank. but so far so good. it comes from good stock. I have never seen a birds nest with polys stuck out so far as Mikes bright green one. Its a happy nest in his tank.

Hi Al,

The shroom is doing great and by the way I now have two. It has already split. The Zoo’s are also doing well.

Yeah but could you REALLY see anyone wanting to get in to this hobby after listening to Ken explain his Plenum for an hour? ;D

I like the idea, but we would really have to keep it simple, we understand all this stuff because we live it every day. 9 out of 10 people probably couldn’t even spell Alkalinity let alone test for it.

But it would be good for letting people that are thinking about taking the plunge know that there is one hell of a support group out there for them.

But I like my Plenums!!
They’ve been Berry Berry Good To Me!

The idea of a beginer class in the basics of reef keeping might attract some new members and store customers by demystifying the set up and operating processes. Show interested people how they too can do it. From desk top Nano to house and basement gobblng mega system.

We got people with experience at all levels.

Demystifying Reef keeping

Oh I forgot i had a picture of the Zoas

I wanted to throw this out there to see what you thought. It was made by ReefArtist who is a member of the Tampa Bay Reef Club. This is a work in progress so it still is being tweaked. So don’t flame it. :-)### … The Text Print and scale can be changed so don’t get hung up on that. What I want to know is there anything we could add to make it better, more Delaware reef club? I mentioned a while back that I liked a piece of art and wanted to use it as a logo. She graciously offered to tweak the original piece, and make it a little more Delaware. (horseshoe crab etc…). It is based on a painting by Alfred Gockel. I like it but wanted to get some input.

We also have an image that was designed by Rob which also looks great.

This is not a place to vote or to say which we like better I just wanted input on this new idea. I already know we all love the clowns. Next month we will vote for a logo but both images will be on the site in some aspect. I like them both and we will tweak them to be the best. This thread is for ideas and thoughts of the new image.

Okay, so not a vote, but I definately like the clowns better. The other doesn’t conjure an image of a reef club. Not voting, though. {:-}

Incorrigible, Simple Incorrigible

Hrm…amateur hour…just…doesn’t…look…pro

I’m not sure I like the horseshoe crab idea simply because most tanks don’t have a sufficiently sized sandbed to support these creatures. Not sure a horseshoe crab is a “responsible” choice. I like both options, though I lean more toward Rob’s.

What I’d really like to see is a canonical logo. One that’s simple, but immediately identifiable. Think:

[ul][li]Apple Logo[/li]
[li]NBC Peacock[/li]
[li]CBS Eye[/li]
[li]IBM[/li][/ul]

I thought the horseshoe crab would be more DE Bay not aquarium. There are many ways to go with a logo and even if we had a microsoft logo, it took years and billions of dollars for people to recognize that. So to say we need a logo like NBC or IBM or whatever is not accurate. Those logos work because they spent a ton of money and put it in your face for the last 30 years. If you never saw the NBC peacock logo before today and I put it in front of you, would you know what it was? NO. We need something that reefers and non-reefers will be able to identify as both Delaware and aquarium. Should everybody in our club run out and put a anemone in there tank since its our logo, that wouldn’t be responsible either. I can see nobody who posted here has an open mind since I asked for ideas not a show of hands which you liked better. Since it was a first draft as I stated, I didn’t ask if it looked pro. If I showed a 100 non-reefers who grew up in Delaware an anemone or a horseshoe crab I bet 75% would know the horseshoe crab. Every Delawarian grew up picking the dead crabs up at the beach and tossing then into the water. I like the clowns but that idea could be tweaked to be better also. I just want some feedback on the the picture.
This doen’t make it our logo, just wanted input to tweak it. :-?
