how do i lower my ph?

so when ive added ro ive always used the api 8.2 ph buffer and well i just tested everything and its coming up more like 8.4 ph how would i lower it to 8.2?

It will lower itself over the next couple days. There is nothing wrong with 8.4

okay just wanted to be sure right now i have nothing in the tank besides 2 pieces of live rock, live sand, and some table shrimp for the cycling

Those buffers will raise your alkalinity sky high. Why are you using them? As long as your ph is between 7.9-8.4 your tank should be fine. If you are having problems maintaining your ph you could drip kalk in with your makeup water. This needs to be done slowly and many people do at night when the ph is at its lowest.

This is an un-cycled tank you should not be buffering. The water should fall between 7.8 to 8.2. What are you using to test pH? Did you test the newly made saltwater?

DUH… I didn’t know it was un-cycled. I agree with you about not buffering. Personally I have never used those ph buffers as I think they do more harm than good.
