You did a great job with the rock scaping Casey. There will be plenty of different opinons as to whether a tank this size should have any tangs in it at all. Many would say it is too small and I would agree if you were planning to keep them long term. If you want to buy a small tang and then move it when it gets too large for the tank I think it should be fine. I would avoid any fish that are known jumpers unless you decide to cover the tank. I had a bad experience with my prized pair of file fish when they both jumped out of that tank.
I like wrasses and many of them are colorful, peaceful, and would work in your tank. You would need to cover the tank though.
Thanks Ellen, yea I know there will be alot of people arguing the tang thing. That was my plan to move it once it got to large knowing all the larger systems in this club. I have really like the rock so far just wish things would grow faster lol.
I have a 6 line right now and maybe thought about a coris or carpenter wrasse. I wanna add something not seen alot like ur file fish.
Thanks sgain Ellen for an amazing setup. Couldn’t be happier
i have a 6 line also and a green coris wrasse, who eats all my snails. i believe most wrasses will also eat snails and need a decent sand bed in which to sleep. my tank is uncovered, and so far no jumping. the rockwork you have is really striking. just be patient. things will dover and grow!
Casey for what it worth, for the size tank you got, I would go with smaller more beautiful fish and non-jumpers of course. Putting cover on that tank would take away the beauty of it IMO. As for wrasses; the two you mentioned will eventually get too large for your tank in no time. And like Paul said, they will eat your hermits and the snails you have in your tank.
Paul- thanks on the rock I had the idea to make a valley and have a stand alone zoa rock for a while and now here it is lol. I haven’t noticed my 6line eating anything as far as my snails and crabs go but may e once he gets bigger.
A- yea I’m prob just gonna stick with small fish but idk what kinda rare exotic small fish to get. Any ideas? The only reason I wanted a small tang is cause they do alot of swimming and they would be out more than others.
Thanks guys
the 6line won’t really go after the snails like the bigger wrasses do. it’s my coris wrasse that chomps them down. i love starry blennies and lots of gobies, especially for a smaller tank. there are some very beautiful small fish, just depends on what appeals to your eye.
Paul throw some sweet fish out there I’m open to anything. My stock as of now is my picassos, green clown goby, 6line and a algae blenny.

hector’s goby
starry blenny
midas blenny
yasha shrimp blenny and a pistol shrimp combo!!!
yasha shrimp blenny and a pistol shrimp combo is great if you can find the pair. I guess you can try to buy one of each and hopefully they’ll find each other. In a small tank I’m sure they will. Also hence the name pistol shrimp, it make clicking noises sometimes its annoying to their keepers.
sometimes diversden sells them as a pair; ive also seen them at that fish place.
Thanks guys. I wanna add a couple fish so umma keep my eyes open. I just want a fish that is a swimmer and stays out alot.
Hey Everyone,
The tank has been up and running for a week now and havent really had time to tak any pictures. I fed last night and noticed one of my favorite crabs was munching so i took a little video. Hope you guys enjoy!!
Sorry for the bad quality it cell phone.
Nice update Casey. Is that a porcelain crab?
Cool video, your tank is doing great. Really starting to come together for you. Everything looks healthy and happy.
A- I think so, he is purple and orange.
Houndsbay- thanks things are starting to do pretty well. I have noticed my sps growth has taken off in the new tank.
Will keep everyone updated as the tank matures.
Thanks for looking.
