this makes 4 or 5 jumpers so i will be doing a DIY black egg crate top for tank. was going to make one few months ago but figured i was safe.
Aww. Sorry to hear. That sucks. I’ve lost a good amount of fish in the past to the carpet as well. Actually a week ago one that was in qt that I’d had for 4-5 months disapeared and I have a good feeling he is under the stand. 
Sorry to hear that. It always sucks losing a fish that way. The top is a good idea. I won’t have another tank without a screen top.

That sucks, those Hawks are cool guys. Never had a carpet surfer yet, knock on wood. If you wanted some options on the top check out Ellen’s screen top, it is pretty nice and doesn’t look like it blocks any lighting.
Sorry to hear that. I had a Naso Tang completely disappear once. We were on vacation and someone was watching the house. My only theory is that he jumped out and the dog ate him.
