I hate ro/do units

I am looking to make some RO water and my unit won’t barley hook up to any sinks it always leaks and no store will help me unless I buy one from them . Mines corallife unit and it keeps leaking out the second of three containers. I would buy a new unit but I am saving money to start a big tank build!

I am about to ditch this RO crap and just go with primed water and just do he y skimming and water changes and easier corals ughhhhhhhh .

I wanna have RO but it makes so little and mine won’t make any water at all now

Isn’t there any other way to cycle out those bad solids in the water besides RODI .

I use tap water with Prime on my nano and it’s doing just fine.

Really cool tell me all about that system cuz I don’t really wanna have to use RODI water if I don’t have to !

Of course I would appreciate the help if someone could give it to me about the unit.

Make sure the gasket is properly seated on the cartridges. I have a pure flo II unit sometimes you need to unscrew and rescrew those compartments.

Wrap a rubber band around the top of the chamber before screwing it to the RO unit. It will act as a seal and should help prevent leaking.

QFinz, Im assuming that your unit is the Coralife Pure-Flo. From what I can see, all of the parts seem very similar to the BRS units. BRS sells replacement parts for just about everything (if not everything) on their units.

Can you post up a picture of the part thats leaking?

Are you leaking out of one of the 1/4" water line fittings? If so, perhaps the part that “bites” against the line is bad…I’d just replace the whole fixture for $2-$4.00

Maybe the 1/4" water line has a cut/gash in it and you’re not getting a proper seal. I’d suggest cutting back 1/2" of the line and re-insert.

Is it leaking out of the main chamber that holds the carbon filter? Check for debris, or make sure the gasket on the canister is good.

If you haven’t yet, spend some time with photobucket and how to upload/post pictures.

We should be able to get you fixed up.

If you have the RO unit, use it. If its leaking out of the clear canister, remove it and make sure the o ring is seated flat. If its damaged you can get a replacement at lowes for $3 in the house water filter section. Your unit takes 10 inch standard filters. A VERY THIN amount of petrolium jelly sometimes helps seal the o ring. Lowes also sells all the fittings for the lines if you need to replace one. And the line too. If the clear housing is cracked you can replace that too. Every single part of your coralife unit is available for replacement. One of our sponsors has a bunch of stuff for it. Very helpful people, good prices too.

Bring it to the next meeting. someone can take it apart and check it out.

Sorry I won’t be at the next meeting but ill be at the frag swap:)

It’s probably just an o ring thing from what I’ve heard . I watched a video that helped with it to. Thanks for all the help:)

Also what about the RO units for homes like you find at Home Depot how do those do?

I think the home models are lower volume than what we’re used to dealing with, not too sure.

I got a dual DI from Air Water Ice that I’ll be picking up at the meeting and I’m going to replace the first DI chamber with a carbon block. Considering TDS is pretty good here, I’m hoping I should be good to go.
