The one from clams direct was sold
thats odd, reading this article on clam culturing, they often lay the clams out in the sun for a couple hours, to heat stress them up to induce spawning. page 25

so they can handle some out of water experience. must also be the waste build up.
i wonder if they can ship them in some kind of inert foam whiffle ball . or just a sheet of foam wrapped like a taco with the clam inside. lots of holes to let it breath. and put the ball or taco in a double bag. that way no punctures. or bubble wrap on the sharp points. with an open collar around the mantle. that would work. a bubble wrap taco and put them in those kordon breathable bags. full of water because the bubble wrap will want to float out of the water if you put air in there.
Ken that is a 100 % true and I have alot of books showing that as well. The problem is being out of water and getting bounced around. The mantle tears away from the shell and cause them to die. Thats the problem I’ve been having. The 2 days after I received it, it was looking like it was gonna recover and I had some glimmer of hope but the 3rd day it was over. I had to do 70 gallon water change to get the tank to settle down. All I smelled in the water was decaying clam.
And this one was stress enough that it did spawn in the bag. I emptied it 3 times and still turned the water white. When I finally got him in the tank it still was coming out some but had pretty much stopped.
