IceCap Lighting

WOW…IceCAp is out of buisness…So much for reapair…

I heard they were bought out and moving to SC or something like that.

Where did you hear they are officially out of business?

Their web site is still up:

News to me. I wouldn’t be surprised though. If you buy out a company and still don’t answer the phone or e-mails for two months, it isn’t a good sign. Were did you hear the news?

I had a discussion about this at DPA. Someone was trying to sell off used Ice Cap equipment(660) and I said even though I have one I am juggling back and forth between systems because I need to get one repaired I probably wouldn’t buy a used one. Just prolonging the inevitable that I need to get another ballast.

I think I will be looking at getting out of the retrofit world and into some nicer fixtures. I want to try a small LED on my new nano I plan to set up in the next couple of months, but not sure I’ll have the funding just yet.

It's a shame, all there equipment was always nice, there light bulbs sucked but the ballasts work great.

Everything made up until there last president stepped in a couple years ago was great. Then some new investor stepped in to make the company better… everything went down hill. :frowning:

I haven’t seen better ballast, reflectors, or end caps for T5s from another company yet. Though the 660s were a bit large and I always hopped for something smaller.

Glad I unloaded all my MH ballasts…Still have the 660’s…

:frowning:

My 660 works great thats the only thing I have from them, my ballast is old and fires everytime. Now that I've talked about it I'll go home tonight and it'll be fried. Thats my luck

i liked their actinic bulbs, and the rep. who came to our meeting was great. sucks to hear that.

The actinics were the only bulbs I liked out of their whole T5 line.

Steven Pro - who came to our meeting last year - left the compant shortly after.

well, according to those articles, an investor bought their future cash flow/sales for a while. they will spend the next 5 months moving the factory down south to carolina. and continue . but without new products, they are losing market share to new products. and will probably fold,.

I like the idea of those Lumatek 250 MH ballasts. with the twist of the dial it can run a 150w or 175w or 250w lamp . you can change wattage lighting with just a new lamp socket and use the same ballast. Cheap up grade or down grade depending on your needs.

I wonder if we can get up a group buy and purchase the Icecap Co…

well, we could get a much better price now. they just folded. Plan B didnt work either.
