found under and attached to the bottom of a tupperware container on the sand
Does it move? Whats the scale? How tall is it? Can you take a second shot from an angle?
have seen no movement. this is about 1/4 inch. barely rasised above the plastic container. firm, no sshell, sorta feels like an extremely firm snail flesh. i could peel it off if i tried
Was thinking maybe shell less snail, nudibranch, or flat worm. Odd that it doesn’t move though. Tough one.
Kinda looks like it’s shedding little ones. are all those little frags around it tiny babies of it? Are those little squiglies egg strings from it? if so, there must be more than one.
Alien Invasion .
on a diff forum, posted the pic and ron shimek, a well-known invert guy, said he’s unsure, but it looks like a “contracted aiptasia.” thanks for the link, jon!!
No problem glad to point a fellow hobbyist the right way.
Would shock me if that was an aiptasia. Unfortunately I work with them all too often and have seen them for many years, never seen them like that, but it’s possible. Ron is the man though.
