id on clam shell

crappy pic, but the best out of 5 i took

more yellow/green than blue like in pic and have fringes. there are 2 of them, maybe, maybe 1/8 inch in size. i think they are zoas of some sort. they stay put, react to extra flow, and close up when disturbed

Must be Zoas as you mention, but can’t tell jack by the pic Paul. LOL

Is rough to tell from the image. Do you have Ron Shimek’s pocket guide to Marine Invertebrates?(books a bit dated, but something similar to it is listed on page 118 if you have it) If not do a search for the common names Caribbean coralamorph and orange ball anemones and the genus Pseudocorynactis and Corynactis.

You may read that they are not too prolific in captivity and are harmless hitchhikers, but that info is a bit dated. It really depends on your tank. Like Discosoma and Rhodactis mushrooms can be considered a pest species in some SPS dominated systems when they show up in the middle of a prized Acropora species the Pseudocorynactis gave me issues growing on my sun coral. If well fed they will spread. I wouldn’t go out of your way to kill it off though as it is very unlikely in your tank they will become a pest. If in fact that is what it is. If you get a better snap shot or a video share.

Slightly better pic. you can almost see a center

and what i think are polyp fringes on this one

jon all the images of either species really show the tentacle ends a different color than the body and many many of them. on my critters, there are only 4-5 arm thingies, same color

Really hard to see. A specific number of tentacles or arm thingies may help. If it isn’t 8 that rules out a lot of animals as it isn’t an octocoral. If you are pretty sure it isn’t 8 that helps.
