If you missed my Octopus video, Check-it

Click on it. It should work.

Also just for kicks here is some of the end result from Saltcreep and I’s fraggin expedition!

Not sure what this one is… def some kind of favia.

Not one, but TWO Strawberry Planets… Way cooler than the Red Planet (which I’ve also kept)

We think this one is a Merletti, neither I or John could really tell.

Hope you enjoyed the show!

I like the blasto merletti I have one but it has been a slow grower for me. It was one of the first corals I got when I got into the hobby.

Cool octo, but a bit dangerous to keep them in a reef tank…

If your frags recover well I would certainly be interested. Looks as if you’ve collected some nice corals.

There are two major issues with my Bi-Mac…
#1 He enjoys ANYTHING crunchy, hermits, snails, abalones, regular crabs etc. In my case, I could care less about the crunchy things. *Note: He refuses to touch the Skunk Cleaners, zero problems there.
All fish (even a tiny Chromis and a Pygmy Angel) get along fine. The Octopus ignores fish, unless they get too close while he’s eating, he will literally punch the fish with two tentacles, it’s quite amazing to watch.

#2 He is uncannily strong. From just playing tug-o-war with him, I estimate he can pull nearly 8-12lbs. This can cause problems, such as him stealing my hemostats while feeding, he redecorated the right side of my tank… seems to be just because he felt like it. (Epoxy is my next project).

This is related, but I don’t consider it a problem. He is smarter than you could ever imagine, I’m finding it difficult to create new playtime activities. So far his favorite thing to do is figure out how to remove the goodies inside giant Mexican Turbo snails. It’s taken up to 8hrs for him to crack it (like a safe).

Thanks everyone for your interest in my crazy saltwater tank. If you have any tips or ideas, please pass them along.

Very cool video Ive always heard there escape artist.

Nice! Where did you get the bimac? I heard both ssp were listed as protected from commercial collection now. Also read that a chiller was required as this is a temperate species, it will be interesting to see how he fares at reef temps.

That is SOOOOO cool! YahoO Makes me jealous. I would love to see more videos of his crazy colors.

I have a little guy that I believe is a merc, and I am hopefully picking up a vulgaris at the frag swap. I had an abdopus last year, really cool. Here is my little guy today:

you are getting me interested in getting one eventually

I got the bimac from tonmo a few months ago, just recently learned about the collection ban here recently. He has certainly been thriving at reef temps, it may lower the life expectancy, but nothing that I read has referred to that, just a guess.

here’s another vid of my ever-shifting Octo. Remember the sequel isn’t always better than the first, lol. If there’s an interest, I’ll post as many strange behaviors I can capture. If you watch, in this video, it appears like he’s attempting bi-pedal locomotion. I think there might be a third leg involved too, lol, but I could be wrong. I want to try to get a good pic of his blue ring really jeweled and ornate.

Without further adieu,
