Inlineing a chiller

Any thought of how to do this in a cramped stand or where i should put it? Im thinking of running it outside the stand on the side where noone can see…

Did you put a fan on the sump and the tank first? I would be surprised if this alone didn’t keep it below 82*F. If you did try that and that isn’t helping then yes outside the stand to the left would likely be best. Chiller produces heat itself and if kept in the stand it will work to cool the water while heating the water…

How would i get a fan to put on the sump… a box fan will not exactly fit… and its costing too much to cool a house lol… its been running up to 86-89 on the last 95 degree day…

lots of places sell small portable clip on fans CHEEPO. mow’s the season too. check out walmart/kmart/sears or somthin like that

Mkay, the only problem with those is more evap… but i guess w.e ill see if that works first…

This is what I did w/ my chiller, Fan wouldn’t work for me b/c I don’t have air lol.

Just made sure there was enough space in the back to expel the hot air

Nice and classy, how does the current work for you ??

Works great  I love it… Can be a bit noisy but that is mainly b/c it is right next to my bed… but once I get back to my dorm tonight I will post a pic to show you my quick fix to that noise lol… if noise is a problem I suggest the JBJ titanium series b/c I have heard that they do a great job and much quieter  For the chilling purposes though current works great and it is a bit cheaper. (Looks even classier if the cabinet door is closed lol)

John you should try a fan first. You wanted to get an ATO anyways, so evaporation shouldn’t be that big of an issue. There are hobby specific fans that are the perfect size and there are even ways to get them to run only when your tank is hot.(both hobby fans expensive and automation can be very expensive) Or as Paul said this time of year you pretty much can’t walk in a store without having demo fans hit you in the face with air as you walk in. Pharmacies such as Walgreens, rite aid, and happy hairys often have them as well.
Personally on my budget I’d go the cheaper route for the fan. Your heaters will also work if you need to leave it on 24/7 and it gets cool at night. As far as the automation goes you could even play around with just a light timer and have it on from 10am-11pm or whatever works around the hot part of the day and when your lights are warming the tank additionally.
Even if you have the money for the chiller, you likely don’t need it and could spend that money on corals. Your parents use AC during most of the summer don’t they?

Gotcha i need more corals so bare lol…

Well this is how the AC goes in our house…

In the morning after my mom leaves i bump it down to 68, then when i get home from school its refreshing. Around 7 she comes home, and goes WTF WHO THE **** put eh ******** AC on 68… and i say i dunno maybe it was devon (my sis)… so it goes back up to 80 at night. Then the next day i repeat. So, they pay for AC but not willingly lol… Still worried about the tank, the one day i didnt turn on it went up close to 90… ill see if the fans work…

My madre got a 3% pay raise 29k cash and tons of stock options as her bonus this year. So the cash went to my college. But they feel less stressed now and let me spend more on the tank…

Man i need corals… i wanna go sps only though
