Is it just me?

Does anyone else consistently get bitten by their pets? Lets see…my dog bites me(when he’s grumpy), my turtle bites me(when im not careful), and my female maroon clown bites me(daily). To top it all of, the female maroon has trained the new(tiny) male maroon clown to bite me. Oh yeah, my swallowtail angel bit me once too…but i guess she couldnt live with the guilt so she jumped out of the tank.

I can not even believe im considering purchasing a bearded dragon and iguana in the future.

you need to get into raising earthworms … that should be safe

I’d have to definitely recommend NOT getting a lion fish, or any reptile that has the word “Monitor” in it’s name.

Getting a monitor is on my list of things to do, its right before “get better health insurance” but right after “get lobotomy” Man, those things are nasty. This guy i used to work out with at the gym had a HUGE 6-8’ monitor he kept in his cellar. It broke out of it’s cage about a year before but the guy couldnt go near it without pi$$ing his pants so he just let take over his cellar. His plan was to simply move and leave it for the next guy. Im pretty sure the species he had wasnt even legal to keep.

beardies are nice and they get more used to being handled every time they are handled. i have never been bitten by my gsm clown before but there will be plenty of time for that. my dragon is in a 90 where hes awaiting a different light bulb(the 1 know isn’t making enough heat go figure).

My dragon has never ever bit me even though it has not been handled, accept after lights out, in years. My gecko has never ever bit me. I have four clowns(in three different tanks) and none have bit me, but my Pink skunk clown has threatened constantly. I’ll have to agree with Ted, if you don’t want to get bit try some earth worms, lol. On the other side I’ve never heard of a coral biting anyone….

Why not try Jellyfish? They don’t really “bite”.

I guess it is just me >LOL<

Im hoping the dragon doesnt bite. I plan on feeding him outside of the habitat which will force me to handle him every single day. It was going to be an Xmas gift for my son, but its going to have to be put off. I need to rethink the logistics of having the tank 4’ feet off of the floor. Now that my RES is getting so big, the turtle habitat is requiring a LOT of maintanence and i want to be sure that i can maintain both habitats as easily as possible before purchasing the dragon.

Hey no problem. Like I said I was in the rush in the morning to get to work and didn’t have time to type much on here. Good luck shipping the little clown. Hope the little guy/girl makes it.

Oh and thanks for bringing in that coral. It has opened up in my qt tank and looks great! The thing did cut through 8 bags though and was half out of water when I got home. Seems to be fine though.

Thanks again,
Jon

Ah dragons are no trouble at all. Especially this time of year. Probably TMI for some, but mine has used the restroom once in about two weeks and since I have sand and it kicks some sand over it, it’s like a litter box. Easier then cats! I do spend more time fixing breakfast for it then I do for myself though.

I really really wish I could handle mine more often. Just love the little guy and would be terrified to have to chase him down if he got an attitude while outside of the tank. I’ve seen a guy who had scars from a bearded once, but the guy was a REAL odd ball who I believe just kept beardeds to try to make money off selling their young. If you have a large male in with three females and keep your hands out of the tank most of them time to just let them do there biz, you gotta be stupid to put your hands back in the tank again and try to handle them. Like marine tanks, reptiles can draw in all kinds of “different” people.

Lol I think it’s just you…I second the earthworm thought. Think about it, you can start DWC (Delaware Worm Club)

So we went to pick up the new aquarium yesterday. That went find. In fact the day definately got better as it went on.

Anyway we woke up yesterday morning and the boys went downstairs and hubby calls up why does it feel like someone left the door open. We lost our heat for the first floor. It was 48 degrees.

Luckily I am married to Mr. Handyman and he was able to fix it. We got a HVAC guy coming this week to try and figure out why a fise blew. Luckily we didn’t need to have him come for an emergency visit on Saturday.
Will post pictures of the aquarium setup when it gets further along today.

Hope everything works out with the heater.

Would love to see PICS, as the tank progresses

That sucks…brr it was cold yesterday.

I forgot the other funny part of the story. Our friend who was coming over from PA with his truck was an hour late because the door of his truck froze open. He went out to start the truck, the door opened fine, the truck started fine (doesn’t drive it that often and with the cold there was a question of it) but when he went to shut the door it wouldn’t shut.

So once he defrosted the ice that froze on the cable things got better.
