So, I started to move some things around in the tank this morning and everything that was not anchored down started to fall apart! My Kenya tree that was huge and beautiful now looks like this [/img]. It was attached to 2 rocks and one rock fell over and it ripped the trunk of the tree. I put putty over the tear- because it seemed like it needed a bandaid I’m a mom and that’s the first thing moms do to a booboo-. So is it a goner or will it heal?
If your water chemistry is up to par, you shouldn’t have anything to worried about, no bandaid needed. Soft corals will heal it self in no time. In fact that’s how you would frag them, by cutting them up and glue them on a plug. Also, in no time it will open back up and you might get lucky and have two seprate Kenya tree!
well if u need more kenya tree i can help ya
How’s the rest of your coral look?
usually when you touch or move a soft coral it will retract. the longer you handle them the longer it takes for them to open up. Sometimes they will even shed a slime coating off. This would be a white slimmy substaince that cover the coral then will rise in water coluom.

Yeah - there is nothing wrong with that kenya - it’s just retracted. It’ll open back up in no time usually. I’ve had them pissed for a couple days and look like that but they get over it.
I’m with A - no band-aid needed. You can take a razor blade and slice clear through the trunk and mount the top 1/2 somewhere else in the tank. The only thing that would happen is in about a week you’ll see new polyps forming on the left-over stump.
It looks fine, if you disturbed it, the coral will shrink and pull everything in. If it does happen to die, I’ve got serval about the same size you can have.
I’ve had those and colt sprout and regrow from a small spot on the rock before.
