Yes she’s been eating since I got her. I’ve had her in that quarantine tank for a week now. I would say the other wrasse in QT acts much less drunk than this guy. I posted the video onR2R and someone commented they thought it was normal. Doesn’t look normal to me, but I’ge never had a golden rhomboid before either.
New day, new video. Looks a bit worse honestly. I did dose prazipro last night, so maybe that is part of the problem, but I don’t think so.
That doesn’t look good at all.
If they do recover from spinal injuries it would be in super low flow.
Did you email where you got the fish at with the video’s? The way it let that powerhead swirl it I would not say healthy at all. In crazy flow they might get blown a little but not like that.

Yeah, it came from LA and I emailed them yesterday.
This guy got the same wrasse and seems to be having very similar issues. I’m going to turn the flow down a lot when I get home. She eats well, doesn’t seem to display and s/s of problems other than the swim issues. No white spots, no heavy breathing, none of that stuff. I dosed the prazi just to rule out flukes or anything of that nature.
Flukes would make it scratch or yawn. That’s what what this is. I don’t think it is a parasite. Prazipro will inhibit appetite so watch for that too.
I don’t really think it’s a parasite either, but I’m just ruling it out by treating. I’ll run carbon tonight to remove the prazi for the wrasses. They all ate this morning even though they’re in the prazi. Any ideas what it could be? That thread for the other fella makes it seem like potentially a swim bladder issue?
Well, after a month in QT (I’m not as bad as Adam) I added my fish to the DT. The pintail and golden rhomboid were drama at first when they were added, but now everyone is happy as a clam (RIP clam >:( ) The blenny is hard to see, but looks like he found his home and is hiding in the rockwork there.
Nice group of fish. That blenny is cute.
Here’s an updated FTS. I think I’m to the point where everything is progressing nicely and my parameters are mostly stable. My last testing was Alk 7.8, calc 430, mag 1200, Sg 1.026, temp 79. I upped my mag dosing since that’s trending lower. All fish are doing well, and I think the added bio load needs some time to adjust since I’ve got a bit of algae again, but it’ll pass I’m sure.
Feels good to know everything is stable, and having it pretty much all figured out, right?
You should be proud, all your hard work is paying off, it looks great!
Nice work!
The tank looks really nice Kyle. How is your Disney frag doing?
Yes, it definitely is rewarding to see it all coming together. My WD frag is doing well, it had some algae in the plug for a while that might’ve been slowing it’s encrusting but it’s doing some growing now.
Nice!!!
Just found my golden wrasse lying on my mesh lid shortly after feeding. I thought my tank was sealed up pretty tight. I was quick and got her back in the water and she’s doing ok! But I guess I need to seal it up a little tighter. :o
Close call, good thing you were there to rescue her!
You’re not kidding! Marissa said she heard a splash, I thought it was just them excitedly eating lol
Isn’t it crazy how they will find any openings? Glad you caught it.
Definitely crazy. I thought I had it covered pretty well. I’m just glad she survived. Didn’t look too hot when I first put her back in :
