for anyone who is looking to jump into the awesome world of leds, boostled.com is having a sale on their par30 lamps. check em out. i think i might be switching over my 20L from t-5ho to 3 of these bulbs. they are cheap and powerful. $68 a bulb, 10 watts a piece, great par output and leds have a lifespan of 50000 hours thats like 10 years on a normal lighting sched.
BTW i am in no way affliated with boost led, just looking out for those interested in leds but scared of the fixture prices or diy.
well its official i ordered 3 par 30 bulbs in the 4 royal blue 1 cool white combo. should be a nice 20K look. im excited. now both of my tanks are LED run and i have 6 led spotlights in total that i can put on a bigger tank when i decide to upgrade to a large tank. ohh yea went from 96 watts of light from my t-5s (4x 24w) down to 30watts. gotta love that savings.
Nice. Keep us posted on any observed changes in the general tank appearance, and coral colors and growth changes over the next month or two, while they adapt to the different spectrum of light. We always need more input.
got the setup in today, complete 180* change in lighting. it is very dramatic, incredible shimmers and shadowing. alot different from the “light box” effect that my old t-5s created. this is my second led setup and they continue to amaze me. i love it. ill take some pics and put them up most likely over the weekend. takes some time to get the colors right since capturing leds on camera is very tough
You will most likely need a filter to get good color from photos of LEDs if your len’s do not suport filters then you can use photo editing software, and the easy way is to use a layer over top and fill it with a brown to orange color and adjust the opacity to where it looks normal, in some shots you may want to make the color layer a vignette.
yea i was playing around with my point and shoot camera last weekend just havent brought it into photoshop yet and try to de-blue it. but i will do that soon. this weekend for sure
