I am going to build my hood for my 92g corner. i need some help figuring out what lighting I should use. I was thinking two 250w MH and some t5 lighting. 4 bulbs two long and two short ones. What do you think?
The major questions I have is where should I purchase this stuff?
Any suggestions?
How many fans you think I need if I enclose the entire thing (I may i may not)?
I am a little shaky on how to set this up does anyone have a good link that explains this all?
I’d say at the very least a T5 down each side (3ft 39w) maybe another across the front and the MH centered in the middle.
I would not completely enclose the hood - leave some room in the back to let heat out, that is a very small area to run 2 250w MH. I’d also guess at no less then 2 fans per side to move air.

Cd0 answered that. I think it’d get pretty crowded with two MH fixtures up there. But it might be doable. Hellolights makes a nice MH reflector that has a fairly small, rectangular footprint (8x11?), but I don’t know how well they perform. If you’re set on two MH’s take a look @ this guy’s pics for an idea of what one MH pendant does.

At least two, I’d think. A lot depends on how you build the hood.

I was thinking of leaving the sides or at least one side not completely closed but with covered with black eggcrate or something like that. I think that was an excellent selection.
I want to make sure I get good penetration. (I know too easy). But the one lamp looks nice. Should I jump it to a 400w in anybody’s opinion. I am thinking of the dimension in my head and that may be best.
Looking at your situation, I would say to go with 2 250 for better coverage area. As each mh will only cover about 2 feet, but alot depends on what you want to keep. clams, sps , and other high light species will like the 400, but , it limits where you can place them.heat will be a big factor, will will need at least two fans maybe set up in a push pull config.
personally, when it comes to online vendors, imma big fan of Drs. Foster and Smith! they got everything you can think of and then some. they also have some links that will guide you through the setup process

I also think that Dr. Foster & Smith is a great online vendor…They have excellent customer service…I purchased a HQI and my tank temps ment through the rough and could not keep them down so after about 2 weeks of no success I asked for an exchange and they did it no questions asked…Great prices and customer is the best…
