looking for Xenia, Lots of coral to trade.

Guys and girls.

I am looking to put some xenia in the tank, preferably some pom pom pulsing variety. I have a goodly amount of SPS acros, elk horn, stylos, lots of softie mushrooms and toadstools and some really cool encrusting montis in some wild colors that I can frag for trade. Let me know what you would like to see and I can send some pics.

I live in the Middletown area

how many per frag are you looking to get?

I have about 6-7 species of xenia(including Red Sea PomPom, silver tip, and the famous “blue”), plus several species of anthelia and cespitularia. Are you looking for mother colonies or small 3" frags? Let me know and just about any SPS frags work for trade just depends on the amount you want or the amount you have to trade.

Jon

Jon,

I think you would like my green with purple tips. Here is what it looks like on another site. I have a very large colony, and it grows very fast.

I also have 3 different elk horn corals, one is very fluorescent green.

I am interested in some fragged colonies of pom pom and pulsing types. I originally had poor luck with xenia in my old 90, so I would hate to take a large colony to have it crap out. Just enough to get things started on the right foot will do.

RUSS

Ooooooooooo pretty. I like that one. I’ll have to see how many different types I can frag right now. I know I have some of the red sea as most people want that. Some people have luck with one type when they don’t with others so we could try a mixed pack of whatever I come up with. One important thing is that you don’t keep you’re salinity too low and that you’re Nitrates don’t get too high. Salinity would work best at 1.025 or higher. Most of my tanks are kept at 1.028, but the frags I cut for you I will acclimate down to 1.025 or where ever you are if you let me know what you keep your tanks at. I will head to the fish room now and start finding peices for ya.

Jon

I will check on the salinity I think I am around .026-27. I can adjust over the next few days if needed. Nitrates are 0.

Let me know how things are looking and we will set it up.

Thanks

RUSS

Mine are at or above 1.028. Been moving the three weeks and just not got the RO hooked up some some of the tanks have had some evap. I’ll have them at least back to 1.028 before trading/selling. If you plan on being at 1.026 or 1.027 I’ll adjust them. Will you be at the next DRC meeting?

not sure when the next meeting is, but either way we can set something up.

Was that your blue xenia in PA today? I ordered a chevron today, and the owner seemed very nice. Picking him up tomorrow. We will see how things go. Reasonably priced.

That was my blue xenia at Premium. Looks like crap in the store, but it’s starting to come around. It’s still healthy just doesn’t show well under the lighting. I’ve kept it under 3-4 different sets of bulbs and it never shows up that ugly. There were many boths at the NJRC swap selling shorter pieces for a lot more, but since it doesn’t look great and 99% of our local customers wouldn’t know enough to appreciate it I figured we wouldn’t be able to fetch that much. I probably won’t bring in any to the store for a while once that one sells.

I’ll see you at the store tomorrow and we can talk more about xenias and stuff if you’re intersted.

Jon

I will be there a little after 3pm. See you there

RUSS

Hey Russ, I think you were going to get back to me after you went on a trip or something… I don’t think I heard back from you. Still intersted?

I have a couple of nice xenia stalks ready to go. Here is a pic:

Two of the stalks that were attached to the clam in the pic are now on a frag plug ready to go. I would be willing to trade for a nice acro frag. Let me know.
