Had one when first set up tank but it was too early on and it didnt make it. now about a year old so would like to try again.
Have 2 clowns, yellow tang, melanarus wrassse, sailfin tang, cleaner shrimp, and a pepermint shrimp in tank. not sure if it matter what kind i decide to get or not.
Type is dependent on what you want to get out of it.
Are you just interested in an anemone for the coloration, movement, etc?
Or do you want something the clowns will host in? If you’re looking for a home for the clowns, then you need to research what type of anemone your clowns will take to - if tomato, percula then you should be good with a bubble tip.
Keep in mind however, that your clowns may never enter the anemone, and may instead try to host a power head.

+1 on what craig said, don’t buy a nem for the only reason being for your clowns. I have a gorgeous rbta that not 1 of my 5 clowns even look at. However I have 1 random percutaneous clown that chose a large frogspawn as its home.
Yea I understand that part of it. But before the first one died, I did catch them in it at least one time. So just want another one bc I like them and also for the reason that they have the choice to do so or not.
how large is your tank and what lighting do you have?
What breed of clownfish do you have
remember some anemones can get up to 10 inches plus from the mouth so 20 inches across.

It’s a 75gallon currently have a 4 bulb t5ho oddysea light unit. And 2 perc clowns
with that size tank and lights I would only recommend a BTA

and be aware that the light is at the low end for enough par, which means you will most likely need to place the anemone near the top of the tank and replace bulbs every 6 months with premium bulbs such as ATI or Giesemann

I have had clowns before that would host powerheads and other random aquarium objects. but I have had great success taking those clowns and force hosting them to different nems. it is a risky project, but in my experience, it has worked out great, and my clowns love their new homes
Yea mine tend to stay at back left of tank. And at night go to the top and hang out at the over flow tube
You could try a force host once you get a nem
i have new coral plus bulbs in there now. and yea i would like to get them to come to the front of tank but if they dont want to then guess ill just deal with it
Just remember anyplace you put that nem it won’t stay there. It will wonder around unit it’s happy. And yes they normally find a happy place where you can’t see them.
Yes I know. I had one before, just the place I bought it from sold it to me the week I bought my tank instead of letting my tank get cycled and ready for it.
Agree with kcbigdogg3 the lighting is not enough for a 75g should at least be 6 bulb T5
would like to switch to two led fixtures , just havent had the extra money to do so. and dont want to get a bigger t5 fixture to add to the price of running them already.
