im not sure what this is but it look like a bunch of brown nipples are shooting some kinda web all over the place. Does anyone know what they are? i think they might be some kinda snail but not sure. Thanks
I have em too but mine are a tube worm of some sort that grows about 3mm off the rock and every once in a while they all excrete some long web like string. I always just break the tubes when I do water changes.
I have some in my tank also. I usually just break them when they sprout up.
They are actually a sessile type of snail if I remember correctly that is sessile and builds a tube. The “webs” are actually a mucus net that they extend when they sense foods in the water, which they collect on the nets and then reel in.
Which I have always found fascinating to watch eat. The web do make the tank look messy, but when you sit and look at one web after you put some small food it you’ll see it stick to the web and can watch the worm reel the web back in getting any food stuck to it.
Just like fishing.
