died today, at least in my arms and didn’t suffer. took stewart to vet at 6 pm because he would not get up off the floor, vet said he had a heart tumor. by 8:30 he was gone, peaceful, no struggle, not in pain for long. all who knew stewart loved him. there’s a hugehole in our heart for him. almost 11 years old. just a great dog. love your pet friends.

That hurts Paul. I know. been about a year since i put mine to sleep. I miss her still. I keep finding old chew toys ans stuff under beds or in corners. Sorry to hear that .
thanks everyone. it’s a drag, but i believe i eased him into it and he had the confidence in me to allow it to happen without struggling at all. an hour of stroking and slow talking to him. repeating things i’d say to him in better circumstances, so he just let go. then the tears.
That’s unfortunate, Paul . . . It’s amazing how dogs become like children in the family, and how it affects us when they pass. My condolences.
