Mangroves???

Does anybody know if mangroves can be topped? I have some mangroves that are starting to get pretty tall I have already moved the light up twice. I have enough room to move them up some more but soon I won’t. So does anybody have any ideas if I can do this? Or could it harm the plant?

I can only find this

Pruning red mangroves is a sensitive matter, though, and a rather moot point for most aquarists. Even under the best conditions, mangroves really are slow growing for most folks… taking three or more years to even get 2-3 feet tall. If you must trim your tree, be sure to delay any pruning until after the axial tip has branched. Damage to the growing tip before it has split can be fatal to young specimens.

Could they be bent without snapping? maybe they could be shortened by bending them over?

what light are they under? i’ve always wanted to try growing them

I have 2 18w white pc lighting them. I got these from Paul when he took his tank down and they didn’t have any leaves or roots, but now I have leaves on all and great root growth and one of them has almost doubled in height.

You gonna have mangrove swamp pretty soon. ::rofl::

I saw mangroves in dpa yesterday… pretty tall ones ::thumbsup::

question… could i pop one of these right in the d/t ?

I would read this first, I wanted to do mangroves till I read about them.

Thanks for the read, good info,I’m not too concerned they are in an old acrylic sump so I can’t imagine too much damage and if it does I’m not worried about it.
